Taz or Sal - Spyderco Burgandy Vesuvius??

#1

Post by pyrguy »

Long time away from here. The last four years have been a wild ride. I am glad to be back here.

I found this going through my stash. It is the 2002 forum Knife with the compression lock. If I remember this one had lock issues and most were not sold.

Taz or Sal please refresh my old memory about this knife.

I'm not Sal or Kristi, but I can confirm that the burgundy FRN Centofante Vesuvius was the 2002 Spyderco Forum knife, and does have a compression lock. Can't say how many were actually made or sold, or if any of them had lock issues. Can say mine locks up just fine and will just add that the "burgundy" on them is unlike any other burgundy Spyderco since then. Color is closer to that of grape juice and looks black unless you're in strong light.

We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

I have one and the lock is "sticky" upon un-locking. I was lucky enough to get one that was one number off of the regular version I have.

I like that color much better than the brown that is called burgundy now.
