Almost every camera comes with some kind of photo editing software. My Fuji came with MGI Photosuite. One of it's functions allows you to resize a photo. When dealing with pictures of knives, you can often crop the photo, to remove excess empty background before resizing. Assuming you want to resize to a uniform size, cropping first allows the subject of the photo to remain larger in relation to photo size.
If you want to attach a picture to a post on this forum, it must be under 100Kb. Assuming you have cropped and resized yours to meet that restriction then:
On the ADVANCED screen, scroll down to the Manage Attachments button, click on it. A small window will open, expand it horizontally to about twice its length. Click on the BROWSE button, then find your picture on your computer, and select it. Then press the UPLOAD button. Once you see the message saying the picture has uploaded successfully, click the CLOSE button. You can't see an attached photo in PREVIEW, but when you SUBMIT it will appear at the bottom of your post.

If you use windows XP and haven't done this yet go to this link and get the image resizer tool download for free.
Once done you can right click on any picture and resize a copy of it. Then delete the old larger file to save disc space if you like. Invaluable for uploads where size is limited.
On some computers you have to click on the 'advanced' tab to set what you want it to do by checking the appropriate box. Once done the rest is easy.

first try and success! cool!
if you decide to host your pictures at imageshack or any other free host, once the pic is uploaded on their website they give you lots of different links for any kind of use or forum... select the "direct link" and copy it (Ctrl+C), then to post your picture here, above the text area where you're typing a message there's a yellow icon which represent moutains, click on it and it should open a dialog box, paste (Ctrl+V) your "direct link" in this box and click OK. the link will appear in the message body within two HTML tags...
submit your message and the pic will appear in the forum

The photo you posted is the same size here that is is on ImageShack, so they may be the ones downsizing images you upload to their site. If that's the case, you may need to find a different photo hosting service. Or, if your ISP is one of the many that gives you a "free" website as part of the deal, you could host them yourself.swampfoxoutdoors wrote:my try i know this is a very very old thread but do not know how to make the photos on my post larger so im just testing them out.

I take pictures with my phone.
Copy them to my pc.
Open them with MS-Office Picture Manager (or any picture software that has this capability) and reduce the resolution to get them under 100kb.
Then I upload them to my photo album in the Spyderco forum. In case you don't know this click your user ID (very top of the screen) to view your profile and scroll down to see your album(s). Figure how to upload them. It's not hard.
Then, when I want to put a picture in a post I go to my album and COPY the "BB Code" and paste it into the post where you want it to be.
When I do it like this you can see the picture in the post. If I use the "Manage Attachments" feature in Additional Options I can't see the pictures. You see a link to click on to see the picture. I think if I only select one picture you can see it but if more than one it shows up in the post like a link.
Picture posting was easier before the forum layout changed. There may be an easier way to do it than how I do it but this way has an additional benefit. Since I have to put the pictures in my album, others can always look at any pictures in my album if they want to. I like to look at other people's pictures in their profiles.
