JD, if you ask me for this list next year, the Pingo may very well have unseated one of my rock solid top 10.

JD Spydo wrote:Big C-44 Dyad #2!!! I'm lovin it!! Is your C-39 the Micarta handled version? If so I tend to agree with your rating to a point >> but I'm very limited to the work I can do with a blade that small>> You all notice that the smallest thing on my list is the DODO>> But it's a specialty type blade for special cutting jobs.

But I do like your list Brother and I love my XHP Military and I've never got to test drive a D-2 model as of yet but the D-2, and S90V MILITARY models are very high on my "gotta Have" list.

But again hardly no one is giving any of Spyderco's super fixed blades much of a rating at all so far. I personally couldn't go a day without my original FB05 Temperance 1 model and when I get a Temp 2 I'll still keep it.

I can't believe no one has rated the Southfork as of yet?? Great listings guys>> Keep them coming!!!
The micarta version is the one I meant in my listing, but I have all the variations. Micarta and the burgundy, green, grey, and black FRN Dyads. Plus my big C44 and my two stag Micro Dyads. I posted a pic in that other thread about the C44.

I miss my D-2 Military. I keep having emergencies pop up and the Spydies end up being sold to cover costs :(

1. Ladybug - because it is on my keyring, it is with me every day. My "big" knives rotate daily, this guy is always there.
2. Large Chinese - takes up a lot of pocket space but when it is out and cutting stuff it makes it worthwhile.
3. Stretch - great design, great ergos and you know you can use it hard
4. Delica 4 with Cuscadi scales - partly sentimental as by first Spyderco was a Delica 1 and partly because the scales are amazing
5. Centofante 3 - an unsung hero in the lineup. Simple, cheap, thin blade stock ... it just needs to loose the spyder in the scale
6. Goddard Jr (white sprint) - love the white Micarta, the combo edge not so much but the ergos and white micarta makes me forgive the combo edge
7. Sage 2 - Partly sentimental as my mom had Alzheimer's and partly because I love Ti framelocks. It can't compete against Sebenzas for pocket time but had I not had the Sebenzas it would be there.
8. Salt 1 - favorite around the dive sites or on the river. H1, teeth and the grippy FRN - perfect in those environments
9. Native - not sure which model to go for here, maybe the VG10 version with the thicker handle ......
10. Techno - I'm not sure this is on the list as a knife or a bit of jewelry or as something to fidget with ... it has done its share of cutting but I suspect I really like this guy as a piece of "stuff" that I like to have with me. Typically when I carry it, I have another knife as well, a better slicer

I'm not even sure I have more than 10 Spydied but ill list my favorites of what I do have.

1)Blue SE Leaf UKPK- Best ergos out of all of my Spydies. Super light with a good blade shape and length. Deep carry clip.
2)Brown FFG Delica- My work knife. It's been dropped, kicked, stepped on, dunked in water and keeps on ticking.
3)Digi-Satin Paramilitary 2- S30V, compression lock. Slices great.
4)Sage 1- Super smooth. The carbon fiber oozes classy.
5)Centofante 3-Thin blade, light, need I say more?
6)Persistence- Favorite chinese Spydie. Smooth opening and its got a good heft to it. I carry it IWB or in my hand when running
7)Copilot Almite- Great little knife but just a little too slick handle material for my taste.
8)Manbug SE- works great for my Spydie/Flahlight combo but I haven't carried it in a few weeks.
9)Kiwi SS- great ergos but there's just something about it that prevents me from liking it.
10)Orange Urban G-10- I like the blade shape and deep carry clip but the handle is too small for me.

Ive got a Caly Jr Grey Sprint that i just bought and its on the way so I can't rank it since I haven't used it yet but I have a feeling it'll move it's way to the top or close to it.
-Billy

GOLDEN ERA OF SPYDERS: I rest my case

Well of course you have to add the C-60 Massad Ayoob>> I would have been extremely angry if you hadn't :D OK Doc it looks as though you also have a big bunch of blades out of the "Golden Era Of Spyders" 1998-2003

Now are you talking about the Golden CO USA Earth made 440C Meerkat or the Seki Japan AUS-6 Meerkat??

How interesting!! I hadn't even thought of the KUMO model in quite some time. The only reason I never kept either one of my KUMO models was the handle that Spyderco put on them. Had that blade been made with a Micarta Handle similar to the one they used on the Streetbeat it would have been in my arsenal for many years.

And our dearly beloved RONIN  I do believe a Sprint run of that bad boy would sell out like Led Zeppelin tickets did in the 1970s :D and another brother who realizes that the big C-54 Calypso truly belongs in the Spyder Hall of Fame. Great list DOC :)

I love it!! Instead of the football player RG III (3) we here at Spyderville have MG2  Again another brother with a load of gems from the GOLDEN ERA OF SPYDERS

As many times as the C-44 Dyad appears in the top 5, irrespective of the top 10 you would think they would be buzzing out the phone lines at the Great Spyder Factory to get the big C-44 Dyad back again ;)

And to see my Merlin toting Brother puts up 2 great Hawkbills in his top 10 as well. Say what you all want but it was the old school models that sowed the seeds for these newer models you all love so much now.

Make NO mistake about it!!! Now Is The Time: For A New Hawkbill>> if nothing else an exclusive 500 piece run of the G-10 Harpy at least for now

JD Spydo wrote:It is interesting the feedback so far but then again it is somewhat disappointing>> because I see no Spyderco fixed bades as being anyone's favorites so far
While Spydie fixed blades are great, I don't think of them as being so much better than other offerings like I do their folders. It's understandable, Innovations in the fixed blade world are much harder to come by. I think if Sal really wanted to go after the fixed blade world, different steels are the way to do it. An 8" CPM M4 would be something I'd be interested in. And if you are adding kitchen knives to "fixed blade" a set of Super Blue would rock!

I do like my Temp and Street Beat but they see zero use compared to my folders.

JD, trying to pick your favorites is like asking which of your kids is your favorite! :D But I definitely would include a couple of fixed blades in my list:

Bushcraft
Orange Moran (heck of a slicer, and very affordable)
Mule series (cheating I know, but I love the variety and being able to dress it up myself)
M390 CF Millie
Caly 3.5 CF ZDP
Salt Hawkbill Ladybug
Poliwog (Soooo much fun to play with!)
Manix 2 XL
Stretch CF

If I made the list again tomorrow, it might well be different!
Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)
