Your ideal Spydie
I originally posted this one waaayyyy back
there in 2000, regarding a "millenium edition" <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>, as that idea took off "like a
Led Zepplin" let's give it another whirl.
( this should be great for the newcomers <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>)
Me : I STILL yearn for a large wharncliffe
blade ( 3" or so ) and meebee now G-10 handles. Liner ( Walker ) lock ( not as good
as a back-lock but I likee the smooth opening
of this mechanism. ) DiALEX, if he's out there, will NO DOUBT have some ideas of his own. So let's have YOUR concept....
What say the augurers?

That's really simple; a Native with a 5-inch blade. See? That was easy!

ideal #1:
Fixed blade version of the millie...
or put a choil on the fb05 temp.
ideal #2: spydie version of the classic warncliff... slipjoint and all. 2.5-3" single warncliff blade, zero bevel edge, 7mm opening hole(with a 1.1" opening radius['fly size]), d2 or vg-10, 2-3mm blade width at pivot. FRN handles made to look like jigged bone(even just the pattern)... and the only marking would be the spyder icon as a tang mark.
gun con·trol n. definition 1. The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her pantyhose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker received that fatal bullet wound. 2. The ability to hit what you are aiming at. 3. The first key step of a corrupt political agenda where good citizens are disarmed so that a dictatorship may replace a democracy in the future.

My perfect Spyderco is still the Wegner Jr. for under $90 (last 2 on ebay went for about $140). Fortunately I have both versions and one is numbered. Other than that, my favorite seems to be the current model that I have purchased (with some exceptions)and right now it is the Khalsa. This one has lock problems but with a hard flick of the wrist it locks up perfectly. Just needs some breaking in.

1)FRN Kiwi.
2)Delica and Endura w/3D handles.
3)3D Native w/wharncliffe blade.
4)Police SS model w/handles slotted like the Navigator to drop weight.
5)A new model. The "Sheriff". A 3.5",VG-10 Police style blade(SE/PE/CE) w/G-10 handles. Sized in between the Rookie and Police. A Police Jr if you will.

Isn't it funny how we change, or at least I do. I would like to see a compression lock Military, to match the new Para-Military. I talked to Sal about this, and it may be something to look at in the future, the trouble is it really needs to have double liners, and reguardless it's from my understanding a headache to develope! If not I could be happy with the regular model! I would like to at least see the reg. Military brung out in olive green G-10 scales. Someday there will be a Military in our collection! RKBA!

Well, the Military is about as good as it gets... I'm not sure I'd improve on it. I like liner locks and LOVE the Military, so all is good.
I suppose something in the future could change my mind, but right now the Military is one of my favorite production folders and probalbly my next purchase depending on a few factors <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> sadly which are beyond my control.

ideal? mmmm.. had to be an 'uber-millie'.. a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> which I wont use.. OD slabs with compression lock, Ed Schemp's <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>-damascus bolsters and blade.. Now, that'll make a a very happy man! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I think it would be great if Spy would make an endura size knife with cut outs and almite coating like the almite navigator, keep it thin, put a S30v blade on it and either the front lock with Boye detent or a compression lock. I think the military is long overdue for a solid titanium or aluminum handle and a frame lock or compression lock!

MY ideal Spydie?
...That IS a G-10 Police, fully serrated edge, VG-10 steel, dual liners, and in LEFT-HAND (or at least an ambidextrious pocket-clip like the FRN Delica/Endura)...And while I'm dreaming, how about a 5.4 inch blade...

The <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Endura & <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Delica. From my experience, it's the ideal GP/EDC knife!!<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
