Best Spyderco for IWB

I discovered last weekend a method of carry that I really like when my pockets are full of other stuff. I find I can slip a Spyderco IWB in the small of my back area and basically forget it is there. I used a Tenacious in the factory tip down configuration and it worked well, but it got me thinking if other Spydies might not be more ideal. I came up with the G10 Police as perfect for this type and location of carry. It is long, grippy, pretty much symmetrical, and can be configured for tip down. Any others that may work in this role?

IWB is cool, millie is good for IWB.

I don't like to carry knives in small of back though. I just can't stand the thought of a sharp piece of steel next to my spine.

Yeah, try ~4 o'clock instead of over your spine. Any model with a decent detent keeping the blade closed should work. I often carry an FFG Endura IWB when exercising and will put whatever my edc is back there if my right front pocket has 'something else' in it.

Something SS with a lockback. Good detent and super thin. For me probably an Adventura but they are tough to find.

For myself, I really prefer the Rock Lobster, Yojimbo II, or the Centofante II for this type of carry. The Rock Lobster, because of its symmetry and soft edges. The Yojimbo II, because of it's low-riding pocket clip, and the Centofante II because of its narrow handle and feathery lightness. :)

I carry all of them IWB. Sage just disappears off my right hip.

I've carried my Caly 3 in the front around the first belt loop on the right side. I prefer the deep carry wire clips for this carry. I only carry a knife there when i need maximum concealment and when i don't plan on using it a lot because getting it clipped back in isn't as easy as clipping a pocket.

I found the PPT to naturally hug my hip bone when carried iwb. It almost feels custom made for my bones. The lanyard really helps get to it much quicker since it carries so deep.

I'm in the same camp as Evil D. I used to carrry a delica IWB but found that the butt of the knife that sticks beyond the clip (and consequently above the wasitband) dug into my hip if I leaned over to the side. My caly 3.5 lives there now and I hardly know it's there. Probably helps that it's butt is nice and rounded.

What does symmetry have to do with IWB comfort?

The police 3 works well because of how thin it is. In the summer when i wear basketball shorts often I'd carry a ffg endura or pacific salt at 4 o clock. I like lighter knives for that attire. Never do IWB with pants on because I tend to wear carhartts and dedicate the right leg pocket for knives only.

I think IWB carry is a pretty personal level of comfort. Similar to shoes :) Everyone is slightly different and what is agonizing to one is not noticeable to another.

I do think that thicker knives that push on various muscles and bones might have a prolonged impact on comfort. Get through the day and wake up with a pain, etc. If given the choice thin and small would be ideal. A cricket, spin, balance, etc. I wore a Dragonfly FRN like this occasionally which was pretty comfortable.

Maybe I'm just a wuss (quite possibly :p ) but something like the Para2 would drive me mad. Then again, two different socks do. Lol.

Maybe it's because I'm tall but even in basketball shorts a Millie is comfy for me behind my right hip.

For SOB IWB carry, I prefer folders with tip-down clips and as little handle left above the clip. That way, for me, the knife is easy to retrieve and will show or print as little as possible.
Personally I prefer front IWB carry, I can comfortably carry both large and small folders this way.

Sage 1 - IWB - 10:00 - works for me

For me the CF Caly 3 and 3.5 are perfect for IWB at the 4:00 position. With the deep-carry clip, they are hardly visible, and they are thinner than say, a sage, so very comfortable. The smooth CF actually is perfect for carrying there, as G10 tends to grab my shirt and pull it untucked when I move (dress code at work requires tucking shirts in).
