Finally got around to making my "Stretch Mini"...

Makes the knife more useful (to me).

It's hard in Europe, but I managed to get a paramilitary and some stabilized wood out of the US (as a broke student). Then I modded it:
Put on the most beautiful piece of wood I've ever seen (amboyna). Wasn't easy to get the nested liners right with no tools but a crappy gouge... but it's a perfect fit now! Gave the wood a shiny superglue finish, which worked like a charm.
Reshaped the handle (always found it too big), giving the knife a better blade/handle ratio. It looks a lot more beautiful and less intimidating and bulky imo now, but still has the full paramilitary cutting power.
And in the meantime by chance I removed the tiny blade play this knife had!

Couldn't be happier about the result!

Wow, man! That looks great! Welcome to the forum - nice start. I was looking at your pics on my phone, but had to turn on the PC to really see them. Nice job, and that wood looks great and you did a real nice finish. How do you apply the glue? Just sand well and wipe it on?

Thevisc, that Para2 mod is absolutely gorgeous. I like what you did with the handle. I like the more balance blade to handle ratio. That wood is crazy beautiful. You can see the depth in it. Nice job!!

Yeah, searched some on the internet, everyone seems to have a different way of applying it. In the end how I did it (and you can see the result):
get some of the really liquid super glue, put some drops on the wood, then rub it in (I used my finger, worked fine... just be sure to have a completely dry finger, since any moisture will make the glue all milky. After the first layer your fingertip will be coated in glue itself so it'll be dry anyway :D ).
If you touch it with a wet finger or blow on it and the glue gets milky, just let it dry and sand it off. Dont sand in between layers, unless to get rid of dirt or imperfections in your last layer. The layers are so thin, you need to apply at least 20 or so of them, to be able to sand it all even down in the end without hitting the bare wood. Luckily superglue dries fast so 20 layers is not as bad as it may sound.
So after all the layers and no sanding in between, I sanded with 400 grit to get everything nice and even, then finished with 2000 to polish it all. With grit 1000 or so you'd get a pretty nice matte finish, but that also shows the depth of the wood less.

Can't get over the fact how nice a spyderco design looks with wood! I'll take it to it's first camping trip in a few hours, it's still a knife meant to be used, so we'll see how it holds up (fingers crossed)!

Here is my recently complete Persistence. I high polished it a while ago. It sat in a drawer for months as I hunted for something better. I found something, but not a Spyderco. Here they are together. Both in cocobolo, treated with boiled linseed oil and 1500grit sanding.

Here is the Persistence alone. This will show how thin the scales are so I could reuse the factory hardware. You can also see the cut out under the scale on the liner lock side. Clipped for a lefty only!

Planning on making them a little thicker than the G10. I think it will be more comfortable.

Here is a shot of my cocobolo SAK Sig Lite too. The color of cocobolo is very soothing. It also smells fantastic when cutting and sanding.

Thanks to JimP for the idea - here's my modded Salt 1... does anyone have the problem I had with stonewashing? The rocks were small, but they wouldn't get in the grind area right in front of the ricasso, and I shook for one hour and fifty minutes. I think some wee, small, and smooth ones added to the mix would help? What do you experts think?
