Any more info on larger Native models (3.5, Chief)?

#1

Post by zhyla »

I'm thinking of getting a Manix 2, and probably will no matter what, but really what I want is a longer Native. I love the Natives. I saw mention in a recent thread on Natives that there's a Native 3.5" in the works and possibly the (4"?) Native Chief after that.

Any idea when the 3.5" will land? And any details? I'm not too hung up on steel choice or grind but I think I'd like G10 scales, a backlock, and a combo edge option.

I'm a simple man, all I want is to buy more Natives :) .

I did not see the thread on the 3.5 native. That would be an interesting read. Will search for that.

I would imagine that it will be basically the same as the native 5, only longer. That is my hope at least...since that was my single gripe about the Native 5...the lack of edge. If this one makes it out, I am going to be a very happy guy.

And then even happier with a Chief. That thing looks just about perfect. Especially in M4. Sal...M4....Chief. Good combo...hint hint. :D

I would like a chief myself. One exactly like the prototype would be fine by me. Loved the green g10 and swedge grind on the blade.

Hi Zhyla,

It's still in prototyping. A ways off. The 3.5" Native "Shaman" is quite a bit different from the regular Native. The 4" "Chief" is more like th regular Native, but longer.

Sal, can you give us any hints as to how the "Shaman" is different?

A wire clip would be nice... seems we have plenty of 3.5" knives with hourglass clips.

What I would really love to see is a butt mounted clip, like on the PPT. Just ambidextrous.

sal,

I'd really love if you guys would bring back the Native 3 blade shape, i.e. not the new FFG. The original looks wicked.

3.5" Shaman sound interesting, but I will not be able to resist 4" Native Chef, if it will be FFG as well.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Thanks for keeping the .5" increments Sal. I'm sure it's not the easiest to design for but helps some folks keep within their legal limit.

These will be full liner g10 similar to the N5?

The four inch Chief sounds like one I will need to get.

Sal stated previously that the new Chief, when available, would be FFG like the current Native 5. (I was hoping for that wicked swedge-cut blade too). :(

Maybe if we ask nicely (and often) enough he will change his mind.

So Sal....swedge please!

The Shaman is a RIL. The Chief is still far enough away that we've not made firm decisions on materials or grind.
