+1 for either Jester or Ladybug with ti scales. Flamed Ti scales would be REALLY nice. Happy with any of the Japanese steels but would suggest VG10 to keep the price down. The reality is that it isn't a big knife and won't do hard cutting .... VG 10 should be able to handle 95% of what is thrown at it. Sure damascus or ZDP would be nice but that would make it even more expensive and would possibly limit the appeal outside of this forum.

I forget that even though I have a rotation of 20 or so knives that I carry, the knife that is always with me unless I am on a commercial flight is the Ladybug on my keyring. It could do with a bit of upmarket treatment!

My vote goes to ZDP.

Me too (unless SB is an option). It's not that a LB needs to be designed for hard use, rather that you can take it to a finer angle so it's sharper.

Is it needed? Of course not, a plane FRN & VG 10 combo would do the job just fine. But the thing is, we're not talking about a knife that we need but a knife that we want. Being a form over function fellow, I'm having tough time in justifying spending more just for a prettier handle if I can't have "the best" available blade steel at the same time.

Brass and SB would be another great variant!
