This is a sad sign of the state of the Republic. I just purchased the 3x216 Signature Set and the x36 Bar sets. I remember using similar plastic model kits in organic chemistry at university. We used to take about 10 sets and combine them into huge objects d'arte and mega-compounds. Lots of fun and it brings back great memories. It feels great to stick it to the CPSC! I knew that this was happening, but thanks for the post and my call to action SolidState!

Played lots of games of lawn darts and horseshoes growing up but the only injury from those two games were when someone dropped a horseshoe on their toe.

I was just watching some videos on buckyballs a few days ago and now this thread. Too bad they are trying to ban them. I think they should just make a law where nobody moves then that way nobody can get hurt.

We had some of those at school once. Someone threw them at the ceiling and they got stuck, but we eventually got them down.

Also, for some reason we called them "Monkey Balls."

Nope...a great idea!! Used to get these a lot growing up. The toy is inside a smaller plastic "egg" on the inside. So unless you are completely useless at being a parent, or your child has some kind of plastic eating fetish, they are totally safe.

It was like Cracker Jacks, but chocolate...I've heard that the toys have become really crappy though.

Unfortunately many kids have this fetish so the problem does exist but there's a big difference in marketing something for kids that is potentially dangerous versus marketing something towards adults and a child gets a hold of it. If our gauge of deciding whether something should exist or not is "it could be attractive to a child and potentially harmful" then this country would get barren fast. I wouldn't let my child eat that egg though.

I've eaten many many over the years, as have my brother and sister and pretty much every single person that I know as a matter of fact. Probably I could randomly poll people on the street and they all would have eaten them too.

All it requires is adult supervision. Too many parents like to ban things, or blame things for their own poor parenting.

Me too, one of my favourite treats, always disappointing when you got a puzzle instead of a toy though haha. They are great; delicious, educational, and keeps kids quiet for a bit. I got a couple while we were out for lunch, and can confirm the toys are now pretty crap, mine was only 3 pieces, and my girlfriend got an hourglass that didn't even require assembly, bit of a shame really, guess lego start coming pre-built and glued together soon.

Wow...those are crappy toys! used to get such cool stuff! I still have this little car that I once got...one of those pull back and release ones. It was a little white Camaro. It was like an inch long and yet when you let it go the thing would power along really quickly for a good 10+ feet...

Ba-ha ha ha ha haaaa. You sure that you didn't accidentally swallow anything? :p :rolleyes: :D

Yeah a bit watered down than the ones I remember! Well of course I swallowed the chocolate, but I can safely say that the jester was the most dangerous thing involved lmao.
