Any chance of having a Kopa and Dragonfly sprint run?

I'd love to have any of those in carbon fiber scales and some special steel blade.

I wouldn't mind a sprint Lava either. :D

Hi Alan,

Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

We've been discussing a Kopa sprint. The maker that made the Kopa's doesn't have the confidece to work with all of the exotic materials so we're trying to find something nice that they can work with.

I believe the Lava sprint is in-the-works.

Hey sal, are you talking about exotic steels? It seems the maker has no aversion to exotic handle material!!!

You should do a snakewood and super blue kopa OR Dragonfly!
Sal, Let me know if you need the snakewood! mine is on all the sebenzas. Im sure with the ammount you would need we would be working with a considerable bulk discount.

wow, great news. I am a big fan of the kopas :D , I am going to have to tell Dan from down under about this! So Sal are you going to go with the red quince that was next in line for the scales or are you going to surprise us?

if you need any ideas for scale options, here are a few :D . There are better pics in the link.

Great news. Can you, please, tell more? What will be the difference between sprint and old model?

Next should be Adventure sprint :) :p

Thank you for your quick response, Sal!

Great news all around, Sal. :)

Whatever the handle material, please consider doing the Kopa clipless. As for materials, assuming it's Moki we're talking about, they appear to have experience with Ironwood, Chinese Quince, and Red Sandalwood, all of which are attractive. Another option would be polished G-10, the Kopa's rounded handle should add and interesting and attractive "grain" effect to that.

Two of my favourite words have sprung from the keyboard of my 'Santa' Sal :)

Kopa and Lava .... ahhhh.... I am in heaven. Wonder why Cousin Chad didn't mention this to me. I've been harping on this forum to get a Lava sprint for years. It seems I will have to save some cabbage for these upcoming sprints. Oh and still waiting for my Yo2, Orange Dodo and a couple others as well. Hopefully I can get my permits sorted out with Customs here in due course.

Thanks Sal and Spydercrew (and thanks to my good mate Tony for pointing me in the right direction :p )
Cheers

And Paul speaks close to my heart. All the materials listed are great for a sprint. I wouldn't mind a highly figured snakewood either... or if you want to go really fancy I would love some New Zealand Green Kauri !!!! I would buy that in a heartbeat. Look up the wood :) It's like a dinosaur wood !!!

Tony,
I went through your thread again. Your Kopas are amazing. I am so jealous of your skills.
Thank you for sharing.

Well I could certainly go for a Sprint run Lava!
But I sure would love to see the dragonfly 2 in carbon fiber, the older carbon fiber dragonfly is my favorite knife.

I realize it's an unrealistic option for sales, but I'd really like to see a left-handed Kopa for the sprint run. But hey, sign me up for almost any material. Color-wise I'd like to see something that hasn't been done before in the Kopa line.

Excited about the Lava! Any word on the scales? Lightweight Frn or unlined G10 would be awesome. Either way, this is great news.

You know what would really be cool? Make this Kopa clipless...but design a clip that uses a kind of barrel screw so it attaches to the lanyard hole. That should make most everyone happy.
