Endura 4 FFG is pretty good, what are you thinking of making better?

Current Endura 4 FFG needs no improvements. ZIP. Nada!

The only reason that I someone would make a change is just because they could. No other reason.

All I'd personally like is a wire clip. (No paint chipping & slightly easier on pant pockets)

But honestly doesn't need to happen... just a change.
Spyderco please make a wire clip version of the Manbug/Ladybug!

One improvement might be the use of the Native5 /Sage 4 type lockback and a g 10 handle....

About the same time they make a Para 3!

Which is to say that both models have been refined to the point that they need little, if any, improvement. :)

I would agree with the clip, maybe going to a wire grip or at least take off that black coating that wears off sooooo easily.

Hi Ron,

Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

We are generally making small improvemenbts all of the time. CQI or Constant Quality Improvement. We also receive comments from our customers as to what refinements they would like to see. When we receive enough to re-tool, then we make the next variation.

Hi Dedrok,

Not everyone likes the wire clip so we have to be careful. We've also not made a 4 way wire clip.

I have to agree with most of the comments above.

I can't find anything wrong with the current Endura 4 FFG models, minus the paint wearing off the pocket clip too.

I'd rather see a Military 2 over an Endura 5 anyways!

Yeah there's really not much you could change aside from improved manufacturing (better pivots, tighter tolerances, that sort of thing). The design is pretty flawless, it's very general use, and spyderco makes plenty of other designs to fill in the gaps for other uses.

Probably in the minority here, but I'd love to see a new variant with a FFG blade, and the Endura 3-style pinned construction, linerless handles, and barrel-bolt clip.

Possible improvement: move the lanyard hole so that it doesn't pass through the pocket clip, eliminating that weak point where the clip always bends when it gets snagged.

I would just get rid of the FRN handle. I know it's a superb material but I can't stand it.

My first Endura was a VG-10 Sabre Gring Partial Serrated. The next was a VG-10 FFG, quite an improvement.

I can't think of any other improvements for either knife. I really love the FRN handles.

A Military 2 with FRN handle would make me consider it.

This is what I used to say about the Endura III when they announced the Endura IV. :) It proved they knew better... :o

i am happy with every variation that they have made and still carry them from time to time. Lately i have been carrying a E4 FFG that i added a wave to and modded the tip to look like Mr. Janich's enduras. I really cant see any major changes in the knife for at least 4-5 yrs, that's just my opinion. Now if Sal where to make a Carbon fiber handle endura with some exotic steel i wouldn't object to it

I just take the paint off of most of my figure 8 clips with paint. I don't think a wire clip would be ideal on the Endura.

You never know when a model will be updated. There might be changes that are going on that they plan on doing in a year or five. Maybe they'll have an Endura with Mr. Janich's modified blade.

When? Who know, but as Sal said they are alway CQI-ing their knives. So, they just keep getting better even if they don't officially change the name with each minor change.
