did you buy it new or used? where are you located? send it in to spyderco is the answer you are going to get here. they can't do anything until they have it to inspect.

Rivden, welcome to the forums...
Let me ask, did you do anything to experience the broken cage, blade play and messed up liner or did it arrive with these problems?
The knife doesnt necessarily form those problems overnight or through normal use.

Send it in, which you should of did in the first place. You said you dont want to be without a knife, yet its been a month since the minor problems and two weeks since the cage broke. You would of had a brand new working knife in a week. The longer you wait and talk about it here, the longer you won't have a knife. 3 weeks goes by quick...send it in.

I'd agree that the smart thing to do is to send it in, but have you contacted Spyderco and inquired about ordering parts?
As for the other, good luck. Most folks who make custom scales want to fit them to the knife and, given that the Manix 2XL is a fairly new model, I doubt anyone who might sell you scales for home installation has one kicking around to use a template. Not to mention that they may be just as difficult swap scales on as the smaller Manix 2 due to the flared lanyard tube.
