Fanboy moments!

Hello all! I know it's been awhile but I still lurk around here whenever I get the chance. I just got back from Blad a couple days ago and I wanted to say that I don't usually get all goofy about seeing "Big Name" people. My thought being that they're just people like everyone else but when I ran across the Spyderco booth and there stands Mr. Janich and Mr. Glesser (people I see on TV, in videos and the top dogs of a huge company that I enjoy the heck out of) I got a little stutter-fied. I settled for taking some pictures and not trying to wait my way through the crowd that was a constantpart of the booth. So, maybe I lost a few cool points but it was really awesome to see all the people whose names I read on these forums as riding the cutting edge of cutting edge technology. So many big names under one roof, it was almost more than I could bear. Oh by the way, can you tell this is my first Blade experience?

That sounds like a great time and one that you won't forget. I don't get too excited
about celebrity types either, but on the other hand, it is pretty cool to meet people
that you have much respect for, especially so many under one roof.

Personally, Sal and Mike are as you said just guys like us. They have jobs (albeit awesome jobs), they do their job and make money. The thing that would have me star struck is the respect i have for them because of what they do and how they conduct business. I would honestly rather meet either of them than most actors because we have something in common and i can relate to them. I wouldn't have any shame at all in taking a knife or box or something up to either of them and asking for an autograph, i don't know if that makes me a fanboy or not and i really don't care lol.

Dear Nonprophet:

Thank you very much for your post. Next time, please come on up and chat. We really enjoy meeting our customers and try to be as approachable as possible. After all, we all put our pants on one leg at a time--especially when the pockets are packed with Spydercos...

I'm glad you enjoyed your first Blade!

Stay safe,

Mike

Yep....now I have to go change my diaper! Yeah I was a little overwhelmed by the entire blade show so Ispent most of my time walking around with my mouth half open like the fat kid in Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory! I'll get over that for the next show and I really appreciate the fact that in this company the people at the top are so approachable and actually interact with their customers on a one on one basis so regularly. It's very nice and it's why I am a loyal fan and customer of Spyderco more than anything else...well ok they make really cool knives so that might also be a factor! ;)
