Para2 smoothness achieved... FINALLY!

#1

Post by ValueKnifeLover »

For my birthday in December one of my good friends bought me a paramilitary 2. I have a few knives but this one is definitely the one that gets carried and used the most. I freaking love it! However, out of the box it was never as smooth as I thought it would be. I have read how amazingly smooth they are and it wasn't anything special to me. It wasn't bad by any means but not brag worthy. Still super functional. Once I felt a few other paras I realized the smoothness everyone was talking about... so finally last night I couldn't take it anymore and I took my baby apart and gave her a good cleaning and put it all back together and grease at the pivot...

WOW!!!

It's BUTTERY smooth and fast. I can't stop playing with it. Just thought I would share my excitement :) My favorite knife just got better.

Do you hear that sound? Listen close....it's the sound of a warranty dying ;)

I bet if you just played with all the screws a bit, you could've got it smooth without disassembling it.

Not too worried about the warranty. :p

1. Because I know how to take it apart and put it back together without messing it up or showing signs it ever happened... They aren't a mystical item, just screws and parts put together by hand originally.

2. Because :spyder: rules the world... and I have never had an issue with any Spydie I have ever owned. :D

I tried all the screws for a while it just never did anything but cause more blade play.

Yeah i hear ya on the no fear part. If you're competent about doing it, it's pretty obvious right out of the box if you have a defect or not unless it's something odd like a heat treat issue or something. I've taken a couple apart but only after i've had them a while and felt safe knowing the knife was solid.

Well, after you've checked that the knife is good, I'm not too sure that there's anything else that can be warrantied after some time. Anything workmanship and materials defect will probably show up in the first two weeks or less. Well, there's HT but I can't hardly think of anything else.

Half of us drive cars without warranties. Chances are even a poor assembly won't mess with safety much and if so that's what a 50/50 choil is for! :)

Still, the warranty is gone. They will likely perform maintenance if need be but it might cost ya a few bucks. No biggie.
