I've noticed that the ball sits much further in than with the Poliwog as well. Repeated use and good lubrication, however, does make unlocking the Dodo easier with time.

Hey folks. A popular online vendor has these in stock today for a decent price. Rhymes with Wife Nerks. Get them before they are gone. Cheers.

To tell the truth I was thinking that everybody who really wanted already got as many as they want plus one more

Anybody remember if we had to put in a deposit for the Knifecenter pre-orders?

It's very rarely that Knife Centre requests a pre-order deposit. Just don't add anything else to that cart.

No more Dodos at the other sellers either.

I spoke to KC today and they are receiving the Dodos in weekly doses of less than a dozen. On the phone today he claimed that the orders were being filled and that he was up to mid-December orders. He said he is only filling orders from oldest to newest one at a time. Even orders placed for multiples are not being filled to their fullest. I'm still patiently waiting since the last phone conversation (4 weeks ago). Just FYI!

I wanted two of them and my dealer has policy of one per person, so I pick-up second on the bay for $151 shipped. Not that bad considering that I paid $134 to the dealer. There were several on BF for less, but I missed them.

For anyone's info, Spydietalk still has two in stock. They are going for $164.99 plus shipping, which isn't too bad.

There are many for sale on forums.

I really hate that my 500th post has to be an angry rant, however I just received my weekly order update email from KC. This week the content of the email was different. They have canceled my order (placed 12-23-11 @ 7:am.) and are not charging my card. This is all coming after my numerous conversations with them (last of which was on 4-26-12) saying that they "stopped taking orders when they knew they could fill them all". Today's conversation was the best one yet, they were actually blaming Spyderco and "us" basically for the "huge, unexpected response to this knife" that caused their Dodo shortage. They told me that over 150 orders will not be completed due to this shortage. What a crock. I have learned my lesson and will no longer be purchasing from them regardless of their pricing. I can not in justify wasting my time on a company who exercises such poor practices. I think this has put such a bad taste in my mouth that I don't even want to look for another Dodo, just let it be a constant reminder to me to avoid the shady and stick to the trustworthy. You all have been warned (for what I'm sure is not the first time). *dismounts soapbox*

I would certainly not put KC on a list of shady dealers, but from a similar experience, I can tell that they don't have the sprint run thing dialed in. I think that all dealers have struggled at one time or another with what number they hope to get, and what they actually end up getting. I have ordered numerous knives from KC without issue, but did get crapped on just like you did about a sprint run awhile back. Sorry to hear that you had to deal with that.

I would not be surprised to see more dealers drop pre-orders and go to first come, first served email notification, as GPK recently did.

Instead of pre-order they should offer a spot in-line...no promises.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Instead of complaining, just check secondary market frequently and get there. Right now one on the bay for $135 BIN + $6 shipping.
