Two comments to add to this thread:
1) PM2 over GB, but Im biased. I dont have a GB. I have held one, but it didnt do anything for me. The PM2 with all its refinements from the PM1 is just a great knife. If I could refine one thing, it would be to have a beefier tip - more like the Endura tip. That is the only thing I worry about a bit. The GB tip due to blade design is better than PM2 tip.
2) Flashlights - I have ALWAYS loved them. When LED lights first came out, I paid some bucks for an early model and it was sooooo disappointing that I thought they were crap and bailed out - stayed with my Maglites. In the mid 2000's I was shown a Pelican 3W LED - wow! I bought one on the spot. Loved it, still do. Since then, Ive learned more about them and have great LED lights on my keychain, in breifcase, on night stand, by back door, in car, in dresser, etc. Just like knives, there are all sorts of flashlights for all sorts of purposes.

However, Bloody, wet, or fatigued hands could and probably would result in a cut if the GB is used in certain ways. I guess just see the lack of a choil or ramp as a needless design flaw in that there are virtually no drawbacks to adding one. Nitpicking? Sure. But if we weren't nitpicky about the design features on our knives we wouldn't be spending so much or using forums to discuss them in the first place. :)
Sure in those situations it is perhaps slightly more likely, but I think that in an adverse situation the risk with any other knife is also going to be there. Will the choil make a difference? Some maybe...but I would say that in a stabbing motion when you are in the rear grip, that the risk on a choiled vs choiless knife would be about the same. I think that maybe if you were doing some skinning and using the forward grip then it could perhaps be an increased risk.
Blerv wrote:The GB isn't a tactical folder. Still people are pretty resourceful when their lives are on the line. I wouldn't think twice about the GB in that role.

Most folders have less traction and poorer designed handles. Also as mentioned generally when you hit something soft it doesn't cause much of a grip change. Buy a cooked chicken from the grocery store and stab it ;) .
I'm sure that hitting bone could provide a hard enough surface to shift your grip, even with a chicken...but I would think that you would be in the rear grip for any stabbing, so the GB should still be ok for stabbing a chicken. :D The bones of something more....human, well, if I need to stab someone to save myself from dying, I'd be willing to risk the severed tendons in my fingers if it meant saving my life.

Aww really, the 123^2 just has so much more power. 380 lumens from a flashlight that size is pretty good. I picked up a Quark X 123^2 tatical when it came out in neutral white (i much prefer the neutral white to the cool blue you usually get.) I just went and checked out the site, the neutral white is discountinued, and so is the cool white tatical in 123^2. Not sure about the AAs. But go and check 4sevens.com, if they are out of stock there go to Foursevens.com, which is their new name and branded flashlishts. I love my 4sevens flashlights, I have 9, non have failed me. Also if you want deep carry get the deep carry pocket clip. I got it for my 123^2, works great. As far as tatical or regular, thats up to your preference. If you want all modes easily accessable, get the regular. If you want momentary on and only will use two modes most of the time, get the tatical. The tatical has all the same modes, just you can only access two at a time.

As far as the knives...get the PM2, for now lol.

If you get a light in a CR123 x2 configuration, you've got to be careful not to mix a newer cr123 with an older one ... the new one will dump it's power into the the drained one and create a huge amount of excess heat. Just to be aware. I have a 4Sevens Q mini 123 and love it ... not as many lumens as the 2x models, but still very bright, very portable and does a great job for me.
GB or PM2 ... can't go wrong either way!

Hi Ken, interesting low ride wire-clip you have there... where did you get it?

Back on topic. I have both, PM2 and GB, and carry the thin, light PM2 more often. I like the comp lock, sharp point and FFG stainless for EDC, but the GB has more heft and the blade shape feels stronger for hard work.

For EDC flashlight I have a single AAA 4sevens Preon Revo. Double cell lights are too big to lug around for my occasional usage.

Ok this is what I was thinking but I like the double cell lights, just because they fit in the hand better IMO. And I do like lightness on an EDC knife so....still deciding.

I might get the 123 because it is a little shorter and a lot more powerful...now back to deciding on this again.........

I see you've pretty much made up your mind, but if you haven't ordered yet and has any opportunity to hold the knives in your hand and check how they feel before you order, I'd do that. I'm sure both knives are great, but the one thing that made me hesitate on the GB was the shape of the handle, with the shallower finger choil on the main grip compared to the Para2. Now I have a Para2 and love it. Just a thought.

Between the 2 knives, I think the para2 is perfect for EDC, it's really light, sometimes I forget I even have it. it has good steel, great ergos, and so many different sprint runs to choose from. But I have not handled a GB but the CF scales aren't my thing, unless it's lightning strike CF, if there is a sprint w/ g1:) then I would get one.

but if it were me I'd get the knife that would work the best for what you cut on an every day basis...

Thanks. I've found I have such a preference for wire clips, for a knife to have a shot at regular carry it has to have one, even if I have to do it myself. ;) I know we all have our preferences but I'd be happy all Spydies came with wires.

I hate pushing this more off-topic but I adore flashlights :p .

Check out the Zebralight SC51. It's better than a single CR123 4Sevens light in every way but runs on one AA. Well, it does come with a more boring box. ;)
