none. All the more reason this question was valid... the OP noticed something well out of the ordinary, and came to us with his question...

chuck_roxas45 wrote:I know what your question was. I'm just saying that the concern of a speck or two doesn't affect function and that it's silly to obsess over such tiny things. Unless of course, your knives are just for looking, not for using.
Whether or not YOU feel it is a problem is moot at this point, it is neither your knife or thread. We understand your stance on rust, that is fine. But this is about Lefty's para and his concerns. I get what you are saying, you've said it multiple times.... your stance is noted :)

Hopefully Lefty will upload a pic or two so we can actually see what the fuss is about ;)

As good as possible with my phone. It was the same nickle color as the clip. Not as shiny, but the same color.

I feel like this issue was laid to rest by SMI's post that you quoted, and am not sure how this is helping the OP in any way:

As for Lefty, I'm wondering if it's just a characteristic of the manufacturing technique as described in this post (different area but similar description):

Chuck, take it easy. Remember the whole "Shiny footprints" mantra? The OP was concerned that he may have rust on his pocket knife. No big deal.

Lefty923,
First let me say that your question is a valid question. We appreciate you taking the time to post. I'm sorry for several of the posts made in this thread.

The coloration that you are seeing is a product of heat treating. It is not corrosion and it will not negatively impact the function of your knife. Normally that coloration is removed in the finishing process.

Lefty we welcome your participation on our forum. If a question or concern is present in your mind, please feel free to post it. That is how we all learn.

Kristi

You completely missed everything I've said, you're more like a troll than anything. The point was to help, you've done nothing of that sort. If the answer to every question was "don't worry about it" why even have a forum. Common sense says not to feed trolls so I will stop these responses.

Glad the thread got an answer, at least others are willing to help answer a question that is asked. Gracias Kristi.

I have seen posts where people say their stop pin develops some rust on it. The steel that the liners are made out of is a very stain resistant steel. If your blade is rusting from how you are using it, then you might want to look at the liners. It is very unlikely that the liners will rust before the blade, especially on an open construction knife like the Para.
