I've recently started carrying the stretch 2. Why does this knife open fast for a lockbsck blade?

I'd attribute it to an excellent layout which allows my thumb to follow a perfectly smooth arc at the ideal level of extension for maximum strength. A 14mm Spyderhole for good thumb purchase, relatively large diameter cam on the blade tang, and relatively light lock spring probably don't hurt either.

I read what Deacon and Chuck wrote and agree in every way. The Stretch is a sweet knife, engineered for use :) It's a lot of fun to appreciate the thought behind the design :)

Had to take a comparison pic next to stone :)

I don't have mine out to measure. It has a large hole that is closer to the pivot. I believe it allows you to deliver more force to open the blade because the force you are applying is close to 90 degrees from the pivot.

Agreed with the folks above. The opening action on the Stretch, for me, is perfect. The hole is huge and slightly spaced from the handle. The other fingers have a great grip as well. I can put a ton of torque into the motion compared to other models.

It's all about hole placement. If the hole is situated close to the pivot, the circle of travel is a lot smaller. Also i think compared so some other models the blade/hole isn't as far into the handle, which means it doesn't have to come as far out.

I carry the Stretch 2 daily as well, it's my only Spydie (so far :D ). The lighter blade, the hole size & spacing compared to say the endura do it for me. But mostly:

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
