An upgrade idea for "Police"
"Police" was the first Spydeco i ever handled, so I have a kind of special feeling to it. Why haven`t I bought it yet? The problem is in the handle. Stainless one feels to slippy for me, and FRN... noting personal against FRN, but it feels to flimsy for such blade. Today I understood that perfect result would be achived, with linered handle with g-10 cover. This would give a massive feeling, in cold weather it won't be freezy as SS, and it would bring much better grip.
What do you think?

The "FRN Police" is the c10 endura. It was put out as a cheaper lighter version.
There was a g-10 police out, with a flatgrind blade. My books are in the other room, so I'm going from the site for info.
It states the last info as being ats-55, so that means it was discon'ed before the move to VG-10, in 2000(I think, as I said my books aren't right here).
My Word, My Honour, is my Life.

The G10 Police models had a flat ground blade, lacking the classic swedged shape of the others. (The knife in KBR's photos is living with me now )
If I could build my own custom police, I'd like G10, VG10 PE swedged blade from current production, Boye Dent, and liners.

"We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail." Oh well, I guess zero out of three isn't bad for Bush.

pyton357ru,
There were some G-10 Police models produced with the swedges on the blade and G-10 handles, an early run. Here is a picture of one:

These are available from time to time if you keep an eye peeled...Hope this helps.
Cheers, Jeff/1911.

I have a Police G-10 with one liner, serrated edge.
But, I agree with pyton357ru: TWO liners would be better,
because the knife is stronger with two liners than with one liner.
Even, if it is not needed (as Sal argued in some discussions) still with one liner I have a feeling that something is missing!

Spyderco: NON MULTA SED MULTUM

I would LOVE to have a "lefty" G-10 Police model, with dual stainless liners, and VG-10 steel for the blade.

We could call it the Police III.
Being based on experience from three existing "platforms" (the G-10/CF Police and Chinook) R&D would be minimal. The G-10 would have to be thinner than what was on the original G-10 Police so as not to increase the thickness on an already large folder.
At the very least Sal, give us a regular G-10 run of Police like you did with the CF.
I would, at the very least, get one in Comboedge

There's also the CF Police. A cheap alternative
I don't know why the G10 Police was discontinued. The full flat ground blade is my favorite.
As for dual steel liners, I trust even a linerless G-10 knife. The liner is necessary IMO for the clip screws rather than for the strength of the handles.

If it had the dual liners we might as well all the way and drill it for four way clipage.
I agree that the extra liner is not really needed, but I belive that the majority of ELU think that it makes for a much stronger knife. It also appeals to a subconcious desire for symmetry.
Whatever the form, we do need a run of G-10 Police.
I think the main reason G-10 Police were too low is that the full flat grind was made it to similar to the Military.
Of course the ATS-55 fiasco did not help either.

Just an idea of perfectr "Police"
Hope you'll like it.
~Blade
made of VG-10 or CPM440. (don`t know what is better.)
with swedges.
Availibe Spyder-edged and Plain edged.
Cobra hood, or small enwidement behind the hole.
~Lock.
Compression lock( as far as I know -- the strongest Spyderco lock.)
Handle
dual-linered G-10.
Maybe offering some different colours.(dark blue or green. Maybe bright red or orange for outdoor activities).
Hope you'll like it.
