oohh yea, FRN Cricket would be great! When I first saw my brothers, I had to have one. It was the only little knife that I never cared about carrying. I lost it and replaced it with the SS. I miss my old FRN though, it's not the same..

Uhh...

Did you notice this thread is two and a half years old?

Sal has posted that there were issues with handle flex on the FRN Cricket that would necessitate a total redesign and new molds to bring it back. That just isn't feasible for a Sprint Run.

And Welcome Aboard!
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Thread may be old but I would still like to see a Cricket FRN comeback in multiple colors....Red, pink, purple, blue, black, orange, green...etc. I know many people I have given FRN crickets to in the past that still have them and have converted to Spyderco.

It was the perfect inexpensive 'gateway' knife into Spyderco.

Its two years later and my FRN cricket is still my favorite Spyderco. It just works, and works well. Having used it side by side next to the SS and the etched versions, the FRN is far, far superior- you just have a much more secure grip on the little guy.

Sal had mentioned something about the handle twisting or flexing (I can't recall) but I've never experienced either of these and I've used my Cricket on some fairly tough jobs.

I think a sprint of the current model would be cool and well received; while I'm not sure if there's enough demand to warrant an entire re-design.

Personal preference would be a white handle with a black coated blade (the design was based on a yin-yang, no?), but I would be quite pleased with any variation.

Why no instead of a yin yang, they put G-10, a black blade and a white handle would be sick too

Just wondering if there had been anymore thought to bringing this version of the cricket back. I carried mine for years as my back-up edc. Used it all the time. I sent it in to SFO for a repair and it didn't come back. Failed some test. I have missed that one everyday since.

Don't know about the FRN Cricket, but a CF Cricket should be available sometime this year.

I voted "no"--not because I wouldn't love a new SE (please!) Cricket, just that I want to see it in G-10 not FRN. But BIG +s on VG-10 or H-1 and specially colored handles, orange, red, lime green, or maybe something like the blue G-10 that was on the prototype Manbug.

Thanks for the info! While I like the SS and Etched handled Crickets, they're a little too thin for my large hands. I liked the thicker handle of the FRN model. Hopefully the new one will have a similar thickness.
