S110V Native 5 Scale Color Poll
Do you really think Spyderco will produce a forum knife in s110v at a reasonable cost to everyone just because sal likes us all so much? Business is business.chuck_roxas45 wrote:Plus 1!!!
The point here is the S110V!!!! You can pimp a delica if looks are all you want.
This is all about an S110V knife that might be made into a forum knife.
I don't think Sprints and forum knives are done to make a killing but they do indeed make a profit (I would assume it's not a loss-leader).
Similar to how Dodge never made a fortune selling Vipers. They did so to get people in the door to buy $45,000 Dodge Grand Caravans and Pickups.
Treat your customer base with loyalty and they become your best salespeople. Stir up a panic on the internet and people start buying other things.

Ask Sal. He is the one that has stated that it might be a S110V Native 5 as a forum knife.Slash wrote:I think limiting a forum knife to one specific steel is a joke. Mainly because 9 out of 10 people won't even use the knife. Those that do know how to sharpen their blades. So, why would the choice of a uber premium steel be a must for a forum blade?

Any color is fine.......as long as it is black, green, blue, orange, tan, or lavendar. This reminds me of a line my grandfather used...... son, I only like the blondes, the brunettes, the redheads, the auburns, and an occasional dark grey.
Actually prefer carbon fiber. Over time, G-10 wears, fades, and takes a toll on pockets.
Don't like the forum knife don't buy it.
I could of bought the purple Native forum knife. Not fond of that version of the Native & did not like the color.....so I did not get one.
Re: S119V steel. From what I've read it would be beyond my means to sharpen when I finally dulled it. Think I'd just send it back to Spyderco to be sharpened.

That's just about all the options available!! lolNiles wrote:What handle options have been suggested so far...g10 colors, CF, Titanium, something bolstered, micarta...? Is that the list thus far?
I had done a tab earlier...and the only ones that had a significant number of votes were Dark green G10, Navy G10 and CF.
Everything else was only a few where those I mentioned each had about 12 or so. In the mean time...a few votes have come forward, and those have added to the blue and green G10 and the bolsters. But that still leaves a Stag Arms green as by far the most votes.
That is why I was trying to just get people to all agree. Then Sal has some solid forum feedback and not just people building dream knives.

Yep, Slash if you don't want an S110V native 5, you can always buy another knife. I'm sure Mr. Glesser will consider your request of whatever dream knife you want because he's good like that.DeathBySnooSnoo wrote:Ask Sal. I'm probably opening a whole new can of worms here .....
The Native 5 is by all accounts a very popular knife. Do the exotic steel as a sprint or as a standard production run and then offer, for a limited time, forum scales in whatever colour and material that can be bought seperately from the knife - like Hinderer does.
The G10 scales are not the most expensive part of the knife so there is less financial risk of sitting with un-sold stock. I'm guessing that once the jig is set up to mill the scales, changing coloured blanks is simple. I assume that manufacturing tolerances are such that this whole idea would be possible (but maybe not feasable).
I'd think most forum users have stripped a knife so changing scales shouldn't be that much of a challenge (though admittedly more of a challenge than changing only one scale on a Hinderer).
I'm not suggesting for a moment that Spyderco needs to do this for all thier knives, just one popular one without pinned scales. This may bring it back to the UK pen because changing scales on that may be easiest for most people.
The Sage range is the range with the various lock mechanisims, pick a range to have the ability to change scales to suit your mood .....
But back to the topic : +1 for dark green and I am liking the idea of the tan micarta.

Do no harm. Do know harm.
Warranty void
If you take a Spyderco apart you have voided your warranty.PSquared wrote:I'm probably opening a whole new can of worms here .....

I'm not sure how many people see that as an issue (it really isn't an issue for me). If it arrives in good condition and doesn't fall apart in the first week (before any mods) then the chances are good that it isn't going to need the warrantee. Besides, in my case, the shipping cost to the US and back is really prohibitive - only slightly cheaper than a new knife.Mjolnir74 wrote:If you take a Spyderco apart you have voided your warranty.
