If you have one, tell me about the :spyder: PPT.

Also, even if you don't have them, please place a vote for the knife you like most. The PPT or the Yojimbo2.

I own neither, but have held both, and I prefer the PPT. I know that it is a pretty heavy knife and a lot don't like that. But I do...plus I just find it more comfortable in hand.

I got my ppt today, and its up there with my para m390 as a close fave. its an out standing knife. ergos are very nice, good grip options, the edge lines up with your knuckles which is great for a lot of tasks, it fills the hand, tough lock, smooooth to open, lovely jimping that's not too sharp, the gentle curve on the wharnie style blade is great for cuts with a rocking motion (food prep), and ive course good with food prep, superb F&F, very deep cary, additional fob/lanyard, not too heavy and certainly not a feather, the stone wash/ bead blast looks great....have I said enough to convince you yet ? ADDING MORE. The spydiehole grips your thumb well, its very flickable, it has a very nice detent, locks as solid as a brick, great at slicing, lovely ffg, thin but stout tip, the way the bug is done looks awesome (taiwan style), the clip is strong and the scales grip your pants so the knife doesnt falll out, but doesnt shred them, texturing is lovely, solid back spacer looks amazing and flush with liners, thick liner on lock side, jimping on clipfor traction pulling from pocket, 20 jimps in front portion jimping, a gap and 14 in the other jimp portion, shiny satin blade and again, one of my favorites ;)

I have both. Both are fine but my preference is for the Yojimbo. All in all a better thought out design IMO. While it is a purpose built SD wharncliff design, I've found it to be a capable utility knife, at least for my light duty applications. However, I don't think this Wharnie with its very pointy tip is particularly suited for food prep. The blade is actually massive, but the total package is relatively slim and light...enough so that I forget it's clipped to my pants, but when I reach for it, it's there.

On the PPT, I find the handle a bit chunky for its size...chunky enough to bother me for daily carry when wearing light material pants as I do during the warmer months. Otherwise I concur with Razorsharp's comments. I love the blade and handle shape, the slight negative blade angle, and feel that it is a better all-around utility/food prep/SD design than the Yojimbo. I also like the deep pocket carry clip, that's a big plus for me. I've always said, if the handle design were streamlined a bit, it could displace many of my top Spydies for EDC.

I have the ppt, can't find the yojimbo anywhere, but will buy one when they become available. Any way the ppt is a very solid knife, and sits comfortable in the hand. Is there really any bad Spyderco? :D

I've looked around for a Yojimbo 2 but haven't found one yet, but I do have a PPT that my son bought for me a few months ago. I don't mind the weight of the chunky, very ergonomic, handle at all....I love the thick linerlock(pretty much a framelock), the sculpted G10 scales are very comfortable and the modified wharncliffe blade(awesome slicer) is very nice too. I'd recommend picking one up until the Yojimbo 2 is available since they seem to be scarce right now. :D

I have both, but I carry my PPT more than the Yo 2. I like the deep pocket clip and the G-10 handle of the PPT, but the the main reason I do not carry the Yo 2 is that it looks a little more intimidating and I don't want to draw attention to myself when pulling out my knife to cut something.
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Thanks guys. So I think that there is a higher favoritism for the PPT. It's heftier, low riding and sheeple friendly.

I have a PPT and I've held the Yo 2.

Both are very nice knives, super high quality. The PPT is kind of heavy. Both are solid. The Yo is probably smaller in your pocket.

I'm not big on lanyards. While the jimping on the clip helps the PPT, it is still a little difficult to get out of my pocket.

A while back, someone mentioned they broke the tip on their PPT, so strength might not be its strong point.

The things that stop me from carrying the PPT are the weight, the difficulty to get it out of my pocket, and the thought that I might damage the blade.

I prefer the PPT, I think it has more usefullness as a utility folder. If you're looking for a strictly MBC folder, then the Yojimbo is a no-brainer.

Not a fair question. I love my PPT and dont have a Yo. Yo is way to tactical for me PPTis more adaptable to general use for me - my opinion only.

I don't have a Yo, too tactical looking for me. The PPT however has seen a lot of use and carry. Great ergonomics, multipurpose, very high quality. The PPT is a very well thought out design with great materials and performs as such :)

I really like my PPT, maybe I should say I want to like it more. It just does not have the weight / size / thickness ratio I prefer. It feels great in the hand, I love the idea of the deep pocket clip, but I seldom carry it. Yo 2 sees a lot more time in the pocket.
I have too many expensive hobbies to even consider another one.
