(Almost) lost a knife

Hard to deliver on a good story with that title :p .

Went to work on Friday with my Cento3. It's one of my oldest and dullest but I was hoping my 701 Profile Set would show up.

Later I went to dinner with my wife, got desert and went home. After thinking "What a great night; I love my life!" I reached into my pocket. Um...no knife. Leatherman was there, other pocket had my flashlight. How strange  .

I sat at home infront of the TV sulking. To think some putz was fondling a found Spydie was upsetting me. Knowing it could be rusting (!) before long in a parking lot was worse. I immediately thought of replacements I would probably like more. Then back to the principle of losing it in the first place and having to replace it so the knife drawer would understand. After all, it's a community in there and I'm seemingly the world's worst Dad.

Turns out it was on my desk. I called a coworker to ask who worked today.

I think my Sage II will be carried on a necklace. This crap is too stressful.

Man I can feel your stress. Thinking you have lost something is one of the worst feelings there is. Especially for those of us with a touch of OCD. Glad it worked out for ya. ;)

I constantly check my pockets when I am carrying a nice Spyderco.

I am glad your story had a good ending.

I always do the "self pat-down" before I leave a location,...Wallet...flashlight...knife...phones....Check!

I carry too much stuff!

I haven't lost an expensive knife yet :p

Glad you found it!

Sorry to hear :( . Yea its miserable...worse than ever owning the stupid thing.

Hope you find something to stop the nightmares! Another Delica? :) . If its therapy then the purchase is perfectly justifiable.

I couldn't pass on this thread,LOL!! I got home from my semi-regular freindly poker game late last night, then went to bed and watched TV. Then, all of a sudden, I started panicking, thinking that I didn't recall setting my Native on the shelf where i put my wallet, keys, etc.
I jumped out of bed and turned on the light, digging through my pockets and looking all over, when I finally spotted the knife.

I once almost lost a Benchmade... It was my first really expensive knife, before I got into Spyderco's.

I was on my motorcycle, with the knife clipped to my RFP. The clip was not very tight, but I figured it was ok.

I stopped and walked into a shop, and carried my helmet in my right hand, as always. I eventually got on the bike again, pulled off, and as I reached about 60km/h, I closed the visor. All of a sudden I see this huge black grasshopper hanging from my visors edge...

As I pulled off the road, I realise it was my Benchmade! How on earth?

It turns out that, while I was walking with my helmet in my hand, it brushed against my RFP, and it caught the BM's clip, to unclip from my pocket, and clip perfectly onto the side of my helmets open visor. I first noticed this at 60km!

I must say, that is my closest call yet. All the other knives (SAKs) I've lost just went missing without a trace. I always wondered why I'm never the lucky bastard to stumble upon someone else's expensive lost knife. At least I'll give it a proper home, and love it as my own. :)

I feel ya, Blerv.. The thought of a lost knife is almost paralyzing. Once, I thought my edc d-fly was gone.. I looked everywhere.. After a week I gave up hope.. Then I got my Jeep detailed, and they found it.. A $20 tip and many, many thanks were awarded.. It was like a weight was lifted off me.. The knife isn't valuable to anyone but me, but I love the thing..carried it for a long time.
I did lose a knife my Papa gave to me, and almost needed therapy to get over it.. Can you say heartbreak?
Glad you had a happy ending, Blerv.

Glad you found it Blerv :D .
I hate it when i misplace stuff. I will tear everything apart till I find it. It will drive me nuts not knowing what happened to the item. I am like that with everything I own, I don't care what the value is; I just hate losing or misplacing things.

Oooh... oooh... I wanna play!
LMAO...

I lost a Spydie once... then found it about 3 months later after having bough 3 others to replace it... thus my Endura obsession began... but here's how it started...

I was over at my mom's house taking her to go get a new van (a green Dodge Caravan, though not important and completely irrelevant). I remember carrying my Spyderco Endura 3, with the full Spydie edge of course. I even pulled it out of my pocket to use it a couple of times that day. :D Yeah!

Y'all losing interest yet? Should I continue?
OK... I agree...

So I got back home and realized while performing what we EDC'ers so affectionately call doing the "pocket dump"... OH YEAH... chicka-wow-wow!
But I suddenly realized I didn't dump my Endura 3... you know, the one with the full Spydie edge?!
WHAT?... WHERE?... HUH?... OH MY ****!
Must have lost it in my mom's new van? Oh no... surely she'll drive it to the store and it will fall out in the parking lot for some pimply little fat dude to find and be satisfied with himself for having removed his rear from the couch and his marathon of Call of Duty.
Well long story short (yeah right, ain't gonna happen) I eventually checked the van and all around my mom's house and then mine and I pretty much had given up... surely it was riding entirely too close to the leg and junk of some little fat kid by now, with chocolate donut leavings all in the beautiful volcanos in the FRN. :(
I was :( and I had to do something... I guess I'll just buy a few more Enduras. :) OOOH! My local knife shop has the white one, and the waved one :D of course I'll surely get another black one with a full Spydie edge! YEAH!
So I do that... a few months go by... I'm warming up some Ravioli in the microwave (you know the kind with the extra meat inside, I think they call it "stuffed" or something... it's really good... y'all should try it sometime) and when I shut the door to the microwave, the microwave slid back on the counter a bit.
WHAT'S THIS?
OH! There she is... under the microwave! :p Whoops! :o
Oh well... might as well buy all the Enduras then... why not. ;)

For those of you that don't catch on as fast... I never carried the Endura that day, but I used it a couple times that day... sometimes I think I work too much.

Blerv,

I share your pain, although not with a lost Spydie... :( Earlier today, I thought I had lost my Bluetooth headset while at work. I searched frantically, but could not locate my headset. I was beginning to think to myself, "Oh crap. I'd rather put money into a few more Spydies vs. a replacement headset" when I reached up to touch my ear. Guess what was hanging from my ear? Yup. You guessed it. My "missing" Bluetooth. I think my dementia is beginning to act up again... ;)

My wife and I went out to rent a movie last night and when we got home, my wife discovered that her iPod case was missing. (She received an iPod and a carrying case for Christmas). We tore the truck apart, but could not find the carrying case. Fortunately, the iPod itself was plugged into the dash due to a low battery. :) We called the video store, but of course nobody had turned in a missing case.

I tend to check my pockets frequently whenever I'm carrying a Spydie (and this is why I probably appear paranoid to the general public :D ).

Glad you found your Cento. :) I like stories with happy endings.
