Zrexxer,

Hardly Ableson???? You must be thinking of the Harley Bowlers (AMF) and prior. I'm an old Kawi Z-1B and XS-1100 rider but when I get down to my brother's in Round Rock, I like borrowing his 93 Sporty and taking a putt in the Tejas Hill Country. Looked at V-Rods but can't afford that plus the knives. Still the dream.......

Once upon a time, I rode Harleys. Fat Boy, then a Sportster, then a Dyna Wide Glide. Then a BMW Boxer twin for a while. Priorities changed, and no bikes for about a decade now. Someday, I may ride again.

Like the Harley best and I'll probably have it forever, like my s.

I'd be interested in where that number came from. Even ADHRA Harley top fuelers last September were running low 7's in the 1/4 with top speeds of 160-180 mph. Sure you don't mean km/hr?

And for what it's worth... if any of ya'll wanna ride a Harley at 322 mph... go for it, you're braver than I. LOL.

zrexxer,
the 322.150 is mph. it was on the salt flats and i think it was 1989 but not 100% on that. h-d beat kawi's record of 10 years.

Oh - well, lol. OK, they have rocket powered cars on the salt flats too... never craved one of those either

It's all about riding to me, and you have to ride what you like - that's what matters in the end. But if you buy a Harley and haul it around to rallies on a trailer, I'll torture you mercilessly

At least we can agree on knives...

Dan:
Know how you feel about people trailering Harleys. I grew up riding out of necessity and have continued because it has gotten into my blood. Have ridden half way across the US on a Jap bike and covered the Eastern 1/2 of the US on the rest. To be fair, I think that about half of Harley people trailer and I attribute this to the fact that lots of Yuppies have bought into the Harly mystique and are in it for the social aspect more that anything else. We have ridden from the White Mountains in NH to the Southern states in all kinds of weather and more that once I caught Kim doing her Rosary in rainstorms and lane splitting on 6 lane highways. One thing that we have learned is to never leave home without a leather jacket and rain gear. OK, I'll stop ranting.

Amen on the rain gear, Jerry! I rode 300 miles to Shreveport a couple years ago to go to the Drag Bike finals at Red River Raceway, and when I got there the wetaher REALLY went to crap and they cancelled the races. I rode home the next day in 52 degree weather in POURING rain. It rained the whole 300 miles. I'd have been royally screwed without the rainsuit (and a whole lot of layers of clothing!)

dude! I have a harley, a 95 fat boy I bought brand new, after waiting two years for it to come in. I am 44 years old, and have been riding since I was in the second grade! by the time I was 15, I had been through no less than 7 bikes. my mom hated the whole thing. said I would "grow out of it", by the time I was 16, and could drive a car. I told her it wasnt in the cards.

'00 FXDX,95" w/the works. Grew up on the gas tank of Dad's Honda. Got a bike for my 16th B-day and never bothered learning to drive. Got into Harleys through Buells(long ugly story) and picked this one up through AAFES while I was in Korea. Converted my Dad and now he's on a Sportster Sport.

The 322mph Harley was a dual-engined streamliner. Stock hogs do about 120-130. A Hayabusa will do 180+. On the East Coast, doing either top speed will either get you killed or in jail. But I can do a full service on my Dyna in the time it takes just to get to the spark plugs on a sport bike. And the ladies prefer my wide seat and backrest to the mousepad on most sport bikes.

I used to carry a rain suit when I wore leather. Now I only wear a leather jacket to dress up. I prefer my Firstgear Kilimanjaro. Tons of pockets, and it's waterproof already.

I ride a Chopper based on a hopped up Sporster Sport motor. Been riding since I was five, started off on a Indian 75 cc minibike. Growing up my dad had a small bike shop, I think he bought it for me to keep me outta his hair while he was trying to get some work done!! I built 80% of this one myself, it's won a first place at the Baltimore International Show in 2002, and a fourth place at The Rat's Hole Show in Daytona last year. I ride everyday depending on the snow.
