New Manix 80mm - Use it or Save it?

#1

Post by Cscoop »

I recently bought a Spyderco Manix 80mm PE. It is in new condition with box. I really like it. Solid. It makes the loudest sound when the blade locks open.
Anyway. Should I use it in my edc rotation or should I save it and keep it in new condition? This dilema is tearing me apart.
What say you?

though I dislike g10, this is one of my favorite spydies of all time. I say use it! Despite its rarity, keep in mind, its rare because no one wants to get rid of such a great knife.

If you're sure its one you like then use it.

I hung onto my Manix 80mm for a few months unsure if I would like it, and realized I just didn't like how heavy and wide it was, so I sold it.

If you know you really like it then put it in your pocket.

An possible solution is to try and obtain another one. The legendary "Powernoodle" from Bladeforums is a proponent of this strategy. Buy one to use, and one to keep pristine for fondling and drooling over. This is often easier said than done on a discontinued model. I did this recently with the original Manix: I have one for tearing up stuff and one for ogling and stroking.

As long as you don't wear white cotton gloves to pick up :spyder: :spyder: :spyder: out of your showcase you will be able to make the wise decision to use it. That what it is made for :-)))
