I recently moved into and apartment by myself and finally found the need for a real chefs knife. So I went ahead a got myself a Christmas present!
New West 8" 'Carbon Steel' chef's knife. 1095 Tool steel, .095" blade thickness, walnut handle. It's a freaking laser! New west only made 30 in this steel/handle combo. I'm so glad I was able to snag one.
I had to show it off and I know you guys would really appreciate it. There are a few pictures of it here: http://imgur.com/a/Z7sgK
I would link to the Web site, but they must have sold-out because it's no longer listed.
Merry Christmas to me!!!

Very nice Christmas present. You should thank the person who gave it to you buy buying him a nice paring knife. :)
A very nice person (me :) ) bought me a last minute present. He ordered a 2"x8" Spyderco UF sharpening stone. I have loved the results I get from the UF triangle rod I have and wanted the larger stone for quite some time. Now, a very special person (me :) ) has sacrificed and bought me one. I love that guy. :D
Actually, it was my wife's idea to get each other one last minute gift. So she got me the stone (she doesn't know it yet :) ). I can't wait to see what I get her. :D
