New "Toad"~

#1

Post by Kentucky Rifle »

Hi guys. I just registered and looked around. Nice place! I own "several" Spyderco knives. The very first time I saw the "Toad" model, I fell for it. My wife bought me one as a birthday gift. Yesterday, at a gun and knife show, I purchased another NIB Toad as a "back-up" because I thought I might lose my first one and also had heard that Toads aren't made any longer. Anybody know if this is a rumor or a fact? I got a GREAT deal on a new one.

Thanks (and it's nice to be here.),

Welcome Mr. Rifle,
That little Toad looks like a nice knife. I am crazy about little tiny knives. I have a 02 catalog Mr. Smith sent me and It's in there but not in the 03. Too bad. There are way too many Spydies I don't have, we'll have to work on that. hehe. thanks for the forum. dtsoll

Wow! You guys are fast!
My next will be the carbon fiber "Delica". I'm a fan of carbon fiber. I'm looking at a CF "Dragonfly" on the desk beside me. It's a beauty!

Guys,
I very much appreciate the warm welcome!
Actually, you never know how it's going to be received when you join a forum like this and proclaim your love for something like the "Toad". Can't help it though~~I just love the little "buggers"! My first Spyderco knife was a neat little "Cricket" model...and then it was "off to the races"! I have
Spyderco knives everywhere. I even keep a razor sharp "Delica" in my hip pouch with my Colt Mustang Pocketlite along with a small lithium powered light. (Bare "survival" essentials.)

Welcome to Heaven, K-Rifle,

The Toad is often overlooked in favor of Crickets, Mice, and Ladybugs - but all of natures creatures have their environmental niche - usually in the RF or LF pocket of muh jeans!

Try the Mouse on for size while you can still get 'em. These, like the Toad, are getting a little harder to find but occasionally show up at bargain rates on e-bay. Tim Wegner's Blade-Tech site still has some of them at $64.95. They are clearing them out to make room for the Mouse IIs. Drop me a line if you have trouble finding Mice or Toads and I might be able to locate a few.

The Toad is one great little knife. Even with as small as it is, mine was solid as a rock. I still feel bad for trading mine away. My ex girlfriend had given to me, and the little bug brought back too many bad memories.
