The How Many Times in a Week Poll
This poll wants to know how many times in the past seven days did you draw a spyderco, open it and use it for something. Once you close the knife and resheath or re-clip that counts as once. Doesn't matter how many things you have cut, or how many chores you did, or how many times you opened and closed your knife playing with it on the toilet. Just Draw Open Use Close and Re-clip or Re-sheath that's a one count.

I feel like I have way more knives than I do things to cut. In a normal week, I probably cut 10-20 things. Guess that averages out to only one thing cut per knife per week in my EDC rotation. Guess that's why I don't have to sharpen very often. The week before was an exceptionally busy cutting week, as I probably had closer to 50 times of use. But that was because I was using them to cut wrapping paper. I often feel bad having all these knives and not a whole lot to use them for.
edited to add: after counting, 15 of my 21 EDC rotations still have their factory edge, with only 5 hitting the sharpmaker and 1 resharpened by Spyderco (in my pre-Sharpmaker days). How sad.

I voted for the last option though the real count would be actually much higher than that. That is taking everything in to account, even flicking the knife open when alone :D

I used to bike around to bike stores to customize my bike, kinda like having knives to cut open the next knife box.MIL-DOT wrote:Well if we're not counting flicking them open while on the toilet, then I'm going to guess only about 3 times, and one of those was to open up the Stretch that arrived on Monday. :D

Used my knife twice today. The first time was breakfast when I cut a packet of ketchup open in our local Macdonald's. Second time was when I packed some magazines in a box for chroming.

Since you only counting folder use, I figure I'd be somewhere between 50-100. If kitchen sharps counted, I'd be off your chart. :p

I think that choosing he right knife to open the next knife should not be taken lightly … almost like a sacred ritual …
And I'm glad to see that the "repeated flicking open while alone" thing is normal … for me.

10-20 Found just the right amount of things that needed cutting
This is what I voted because the numbers were accurate. I fit into other categories also, especially the phobic ones. :) The other one that was most accurtate was the one about carrying two knives that need use. I try to use the two I normally carry. The two knives may change from day to day but I try to use both even if I use the Manix2 for something the Chaparral is more than enough knife for. I don't want anyknife to feel left out. Seriously, they are people too. :D
