To clip or not to clip?
To clip or not to clip?
Of all you spyderco fans, is there anyone who prefers to remove the clips and just carry in the pocket? If so why and what models?
I personaly prefer the pocket carry. I would rather have to take an extra few seconds to grab the knife then loose it.
Knives are one of mans oldest tools..........not just weapons!!!!!

I allways carry mine cliped in my front right hand pocket and have never had it come out by its self.Well only once and it was a plastic clip in shorts and I was on a rideing mower.Something about that mower would push things out of your pocket no matter what.

I have one that I removed the clip from. I carry my Titanium Lum Tanto Folder in a Gary Graley custom sheath - image below. I changed the lanyard that Gary supplied to a black rawhide fob - but that's the only thing I would change. If you want a change from pocket clip carry, Gary's sheaths are works of art!!! If you want to see some more examples of his work check out this link:

I once lost a Benchmade knife I had clipped to my pocket while I was mowing the lawn. I looked all over a 10 acre parcel for the stupid thing. I knew if I didn't find it by looking I'd find it with the mower. After about an hour and a half I was about to give up and accept my loss when I found it hanging from a branch. I must have brushed against it hard enough for it to grab the clip. I had to remove the clip and bent it back in shape but at least I wasn't out the $ I'd spent on the stupid thing.
Since then I've been leary.

I like the way the clip positions a Spydie for easy retrieval. The other benefit I've found is that the clip really assists in the purchase of the fingers of the hand that is thumbing open a Spyderco knife. You can tell that they have been designed with this in mind. I find it far more difficult to open one once the clip has been removed, as the other fingers of the opening hand tend to slip across the handle instead of catching behind it; particularly when trying to "flick" open the blade.

I haven't LOST a spydie that was clippd to my pocket, though I've had them fall out when getting my wallet out. I no longer carry my wallet in that pocket.
I clip to all 4 pockets, as well as carrying IWB, neck, and boot. Though not all at once. Today I've got both front, back left, and neck.

I tend to be happy with clipping my s to my R/F pocket, but I almost had a heart attack the other day at work.
Somehow my new VG-10 Endura SE fell out of my pocket and was laying there on the floor. Luckily, I saw it there before someone else had picked it up. Now I carry it, with clip still intact, in my right rear pocket without using the clip.
