Hey, it's black friday... I've already braved a big box retailer, eaten leftover turkey, it's too windy to go to the range, and it still seems too early to start drinking... the only diversion left for the day is arguing with people I'll never meet on subjects nobody cares about :p .

Kidding of course, you are right Evil... sorry bout high jacking the thread, I'll stop.

Well, since I'm a knife nut, I am a beater of dead horses and a discusser of inconsequential things. ;)

Yeah, thus is the internet. There is no right or wrong answer to this debate. As it's been said many time, "all good, just different".

I can satisfy my appetite with the local fast food dollar menu, but that doesn't mean i won't go and have a $30 steak when i have the cash. Does that steak make me any more full? Nope, but it sure does taste yummy :)

Let me just stop you right there. This whole back-n-forth would have been loads more fun for you if you weren't hung up on these superstitious attitudes about when it's OK to start drinking. You SHOULD have started drinking even before you braved the big box retailer, IMHO.

To the OP...

I just wanted to add this. Maybe Sal will enjoy.

I own two CRK's. Love em. I own about 10 Spydercos. Love em.

I've handled many custom knives. I'm talking $500+ customs.

My Military, Para, and Chokwe are the smoothest opening knives I've EVER opened and closed.

Way to go Sally-G! :-P

Question is, who serrated Sal's CRK knives? CRK or Sal?

Is this a good place to request a serrated H-1 Manix?

:D

Oh, and in terms of intrinsic value, M4-Ti Militaries sell as high or higher than CRK's regular Sebbie. I invested in one this summer. could I pay to have my M4 Manix2 serrated? :D

What''s the intended use? An FRN UKPK slipit is an excellent pocket knife, In my experience not much more is 'needed' in a pocket knife. Yet, we 'want' so much more than just a good cutter right?

I've owned and used a large BG42 Sebenza quite a bit over ten years ago. It was a great knife that came with huge pride of ownership. It was worth every penny. I gave up on other brands in favor of Spyderco because I 'want' to own more than one knife. :D I also prefer the opening hole, ergos and full flat grinds in Spydies, to other design features in other brands.

Vicinadp wrote:I own a bunch of spydies but i was wondering are Chris Reeve knives like the sabenza really worth 3 to 4 times the prices of a good spydie like the Sage 2? Or is it just the name on the knife that increases the price tag?
The OP posed a simple and direct question :) I was able to increase my own understanding through many of the replies :) I'm very happy with the direction this thread took.

There is a very good group here :)
