Remember when Danish custom police destroyed four new Spydies...Well here´s chapter two in the strange tale of the Danes..
This morning I got a letter from the Danish customs saying that they had confiscated a package containing a knife adr. to me. I get in contact with them and tell them that the knife is a LEGAL Buck 119 sent to me as a gift. They answer that unless I can get a permid from the Police to recive this item they will return it to sender. I then phone the Police and they say that I need a collecters permid to get a permid to get the knife.......
This means I have to pay;
25$ for a collecters permid
15$ for a permid to get the knife from customs
30$ to the postal service for handling the matter
70$ all in all to get my hands on a knife (That is legal here!) that costs 45$ in the US.
Well just another day in the rotten state of Denmark..

Vox ~ Dude, I share your pain.. those LEO guys are certainly making it hard for you.. man, all those beauracracy and fees just makes me flip! A couple of years ago, I was stopped by the Singapore Police when they scanned my baggage. They detained my Endura, Mouse and Spyderwrench and told me that I have to get an 'export' permit to bring it out of the country.. that was simply rediculous.. but not to offend them, I played it according to their tune.. all these runarounds are a waste of valuable time..

Collecting kitchen knives would probably also be a problem...The 119 Buck FB is 100% legal here in Denmark. If it had been the police, instead of the customs, opening the package there would have been no problem. Now the snowball is roling and just getting bigger and bigger!!
I am going to use the Swedish addy in april to get my Anniversary Delica an a few more home... BTW Paul the addy is close to Goteborg. I love that city..

Vox ~ Have any Knives sent over by Linda been 'acquired' by the 'Danish Keystone' cops?.
You know how she sends them in those little, unobtrusive flat rate $5 envelopes that seem to avoid customs/taxes? If not try buying a cheap spydie and ask linda, very nicely, to ship it over as a gift and label it a 'pocket tool' and if it gets through, you've found your loophole? Just a thought...

I've always been touched by the eagerness of the auhorities to ensure our protection (physical, social, whatever)!
I really feel for you Vox. Now I know that in Romania the DHL have own their ways to deal wih the customs (I nearly wrote "avoid", but it wouldn't be fair) , so I wonder if they could cope in Denmark too. It is an expensive alternative, I know... But as you are already a sitting duck for them...
