Decisions decisions.....
So, I have some extra cash that's burning a hole in my pocket. I'm torn between 3 spidies: the native 5, the paramilitary 2 and the lefty military. There is really do specific use for the knife. I will be carry sometime, but to be honest, I rarely actually use a knife. I carry them more out of enjoyment than necessity. My Leatherman Micra takes care of most of my EDC duties. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Welcome and I'll say Para 2. I love the Millie, but if you don't use the knife as much, the Military and Native 5 are heavier in the pocket. The Para2 has all of the features that one would want if you only were carrying only one knife. I am sitting here at the office and I have a Para 2 and Leatheman Micra in my poket now.
Thanks for all of the advice guys.
Bal, that sounds like a pretty sweet combination you have .
I know the reason that I wlways have trouble deciding on knives..... it's because I already have the absolute perfect everyday knife for me. It's the delica 4 zdp that I Rit dyed black. It's slim, light, deploys easily, isn't too scary to non knife people, and it's sharp as ****. So, the logical side of me says that there's no need for another knife. The knife nut side of me however, says if you have extra money, you may as well spend it on a new knife. In all honesty, I doubt any of the 3 mentioned will kick the delica out of my pocket for any length of time.

Just wanted to say that this is me also. I have a smaller slipjoint that can handle anything I have come up in a normal day. I simly get enjoyment carrying the bigger knife. :)

ZDP-189 Delica
Personally if I wanted a really good and dependable EDC to carry and use full time I would get one of the Green handled, ZDP-189 bladed Delica models while they are still available. You just can't go wrong with a Delica or Caly Jr in ZDP-189. I carried my Caly Jr. ZDP-189 model for almost 4 straight years and it's still one I like to carry occasionally.
If resources are slim and you have to be really selective on what you purchase then I would really make it count with a ZDP-189 Delica

Para 2. Hardcore awesome. Perfect knife. Perfect blade. Perfect lock. Perfect fit and finish.
I am pretty harsh and picky when it comes to the perfect knife, and while I agree it may not be perfect for everyone it's about as close as it gets. The Gayle Bradley and the Paramilitary 2 are very close to custom knives in the fit and finish department. They are worth way more than what they cost in my opinion.
The knives are greater than the sum of their parts; very much so.

Again, gotta jump on the PM2 bandwagon here...one of the most awesome knives I've ever had. Nearly perfect as far as I can see.........

No question the Para 2 is a great all around knife, but if you don't need/want a longer blade, the Native 5 is one sweet EDC. The weight is not an issue for me, and I forget it's there until I need it. It is also, currently, the only model with an S35VN blade, which I prefer to S30V.

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.
Wow, the Para 2 is getting a lot of love. That's what I was leaning toward to start with, but you guys just made it a clear choice. Now for color options :o . I'm liking the digi camo and black blade since pretty much all of my other knives have black handles. Either that, or wait for the brown handled version. I really would like the lefty military one day, but I think it will be way to large for me to carry. Thanks guys.
You won't regret it- until you handle the exquisite, jewel that is the Native 5!mdsmith wrote:And the wait begins.... just ordered the para 2 in digital camo with a satin blade.
