I con't live any longer like this! I've sinned and I need to confess! I was drooling for a knife and I got it now (many, many thanks, Guy).

IT'S A KERSHAW CHIVE!

I know I'm supposed to feel better now, but I don't. I should have realized that I made a mistake and I should regret that I picked a non-spydie. But I can't! I just can't deny that I love this little one It's so neat made and nice. It's a quality knife. Of course that I begun inspecting it and I found a lot of flaws. But it's just like a woman who is not very briliant, nor educated, you just can't talk to her because it's boring but you forgive her because she's sooo beautiful

And now I'll just go away covered with shame. May you spyderbrothers forgive me. Speak now or forever hold your peace

My dear brother Alex, I release you of your sin. Say five "ave Spydies" and lit a couple of candels...And don´t do it again...Unless you really really have to.

Hi. My name is Dave and I'm a Spyderholic. I have come to realize that I am powerless around the sight, smell and feel...yes the feel of Spydercos.

But I, too have sinned Alex. Yes I've wandered, being seduced by a beautiful young shape called a Benchmade Elishewitz Stryker. It sparkled in my hand as I fondled it and it asked for more, more and yet more. And then the problems began. I was so dazzled by her I hardly noticed, but you see, she had no hole! No hole. Just a little disk of a thing instead of a hole. We all know that there's no substitute, or we wouldn't be on this forum. A hole or nothing at all, I say!

So, I have spoken, and got it off my chest, Alex. I forgive you and I feel your pain.

Dave

It reeks MORE of TREASON! But as I'm

head honcho, I'll give ya' a "stay"

meaning no firing squad ( unless you

do it AGAIN ). BTW the chive was

one of MY personal favorites

Every once in a while, I carry some "other" knives, though it's less frequent lately.

Now I have a question for everyone. What about the original Benchmade AFCK? Is that considered "half treason"? My mind is puzzled.

Hey, the Chive was my first transgression also! I really like the little guy, but I'm afraid it will "go off" in my pocket so I don't carry it much. That little plastic guard just seems too... light. But enjoy it, man cannot live on spydies alone.

I'm looking at a small "church carry" knife... either a small slipjoint or a chive. I'd be carrying it in a jacket or back pocket, just in case it did "go off" on me. Don't need to be trimming anything.

The Chive is kewl. I received mine with the safety very loose and unreliable. I finally found the correct wrench and now it functions as intended. A very nice letter opener with dramatic presentation.

I had a (Scallion) I think? With the assisted opening and the anodized aluminum scales. That thing was cool. I'd still have it, but my riding buddy repeated the words "sell it to me" over and over and over for two solid hours until I traded it to him just to shut him up! lol.

Oh well, I got 5 boxes of 7mm Mag, 3 boxes of .30-06, a box of .45 ACP, two boxes of .357 Mag, and 6 boxes of .38 Special for it... so I think I came out alright

Don't feel bad,I carried a Gerber SL 3.25 for a week. And I also collect CRKT.

The Kershaw Onions rock. They're essentially legal switchblades. Bought 2 Scallions and gave one to my Dad. He uses it to freak out the sheeples at work.

I also picked up one of those $30 Flash II's off SMKW. The Kershaws are much nicer. The extended choil and <90deg spring assist make it easier to open and safer to close.

I've got a Black Out and a Boa both open extremely fast but the Black Out has got alot of side to side play with very little hours of use so it sits in the collecting and looking at section of my knives. The Boa is a great knife. I would trade it for spydies though.

Whew, I feel much better now, that I've seen how many of you couldn't resist the temptation of a Ken Onion design. Besides, as far as I know, Ken came initially at Spyderco to have his knives produced, but due to legal limitation of switchblades in Colorado (because, no matter what you'll say, it IS a switchblade, no doubt about it) Pappa Spyder had to decline the offer
I had no problem with the customs, there are two girls working there and they can't tell precisely the difference between a Ladybug and a Chinook - except that "bigger is better" which I presume they already know from their previous experiences
Rorschach, what plastic guard are you talking about? I didn't see any plastic at my Chive (except for the backspacer).
Also note that my knife operates smootly, fast deployment and with no blade play at all. Yet, due to my perfectionist nature I already have ideas of an improved model. I really regret that I don't have the skills and technology to make live prototypes...

My latest non-Spydie was a Leatherman Wave. No regrets. Great product.

Shame Shame on you Alex.
I say this as I sit and drool all over the Specwar that arrived today.
Now I'm a Spyderholic to the core but don't feel bad about your Chive.
I think we all have room to appreciate other brands Ron

I've been carrying a Spyerderco of some type or another for nearly 20 years, but I also own many other brand knives that I use on a daily basis that are not Spyderco's, so when I purchased a little Kershaw Chive for my wife, it was because it was small, easy to open, and practical, which she loves. My point: Within the knife industry, many of the "key players" know each other very well, often with enduring respect for each other, more likely friendships, lasting decades, add to that, many of these guys and gals even carry each others knives on a rotational daily basis, not just because they are quality products, but because they may perform a specific EDC/job function a bit better than their own product. . Now I'm really chomping at the bit for the new Spyderco/Janich folding Ronin/Yojimbo because it is the most perfect EDC for me that I’ve ever seen!

I really love my Kershaw/Ken Onion Scallion. I carry it at work every day. But for the past week I've been thinking about getting a Spyderco Native. I just can't decide which model to get......until I saw the Blue Native.
