Just got my sharpmaker in the mail!!! I haven't really tried to sharpen anything, but my delica 4 is off in Golden getting sharpened.

Hey Shawn,

Hope your finding the sharpmaker to your liking. I came from a freehand background on water stones so when I got the sharpmaker and tried it out I felt it was extremely slow unless you are just needing a touchup. However I never went and bought the diamond rods so those might make a difference when you have a dull knive. As a beginner I think it will either teach you patience or will get you fustrated.

I'd recommend the sharpmaker as your second sharpener, for touchups.
