Customising Cutlery (pics)
Customising Cutlery (pics)
Just thought I'd share a few pics with you fellow forum brethren.
The EDC has had it's thumbstud replaced by a lozenge shaped hole and the blade mirror polished.
All the work was done by Ron (SC_Rebel), who also sourced the EDC.
What can I say? The photos really speak for themselves about the quality of Ron's work.
I can however add, that Ron was a joy to work with, keeping me informed of progress etc.
I'd recommend Ron wholeheartedly to all.
Anyone else got some cutomised cutlery to share pics of?

The shape of the hole was chosen because:
1. It doesn't invade Spyderco's round hole patent.
2. It mirrors the aesthetic of the slots in the handle
3. With no hump in the blade the oblong hole seems to fit the available blade space better.
and yes, it is a bit TNT like <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Thanks Jonathan, and thanks to my other customers for their paitence while I mended.
The EDC just begs for a hole instead of a stud, but I've seen alota different brands that could be made to work with a hole opener much better than the thumb stud.
I'm sure there's no need to point this out to most of you but a hole/slot type also allows for ambidextrious use.
The only shape I refuse to cut in a blade is a round hole.
Btw guys I'm getting back to work so if you have projects you want done and were waiting till I was over this, DON'T.
I feel like the sooner I get back to work my arm won't get stiff on me. Ron
