Pacific Salt Idea..

#1

Post by theZOOfromHELL »

So some of you may have seen my other thread on the Plain edge black blade topic...

Who thinks it would be cool to have a Pacific Salt with a black blade, black hardware and...
wait for it....

YELLOW PACIFIC SALT HANDLES?!

that would be the coolest and most functional water knife around.

I like the idea...

I have considered buying two pacific salts. One all black and one yellow.

First I would need to confirm it had screw construction.

Then do a blade and hardware swap.

Sell the left over.

Just never got around to it... :D

I think this would be great! A fully serrated one however would be better ;) but i love combo edge knives and would definately get one. Especially since my colleges colors are black and yellow! :D

Great idea, it would definately be different and I think would impress alot of people.

That would look really sweet. I doubt it will ever happen, but still, , , ,it would look awesome.

I voted yes because I like the black/yellow combination. My first car was a bright yellow 69 Chevelle with a black vinyl top and black pin stripes. I have the all black PS and like the knife so if there was a black/yellow one I'd probably get it and sell mine. I've noticed I don't think you can take the knife apart. The back of the handle seems to be glued together. I don't know but maybe you can take the blade out. The reason I think about it is my son has the yellow PS. Maybe i'd steal his and put my black blade in his yellow handle. :D I wonder if he would notice that his knife has a black handle all of a sudden? :D

I would like to see one, but Sal mentioned in another thread that the black bladed Pac salt was something asked for by the military, so other variations might be unlikely.

I believe many of the recently manufactured Salt models feature the torx screw rather than pins.

I know knives like the USN Catcherman, Ladybug Salt, and some other knives that originally featured pin construction are now screw.

Maybe they are changing the Pacific Salt too.

I think mine has a screw for the pivot and lockbar but the part of the handle towards the rear seems glued. I think if you take out the pivot screw and the screw where the lock bar pivots the parts will come out but I don't plan on doing that any time soon.

I think all of these very specific, very polarizing ideas for polls cant lead to anything. If anything, now that this poll exists, spyderco is probably even less likely to make it than before.

I think it would be pretty cool, I am a huge fan of the Salt series knives and love my All Black Pac Salt! (carrying it right now actually)

I'm a student at Wichita State University and my colors are black and gold, so this could be my Shocker knife ;)

Hey guys, all the enthusiasm is awesome. From what i can tell with mine, the PC's are torx-constructed like jackknifeh says. The back of mine also seems to be glued, or possible made of one piece? anyways, the blade can be removed. I really love this color combination - i'd take it in a full serrated edge if need be. I suppose i'll wait to see if Spyderco catches any notice of it. if not i think it'll be worth splurging on two PC's to mix handles like cosmo suggested : D

- best wishes, Jazz.

i already have a black/black pacific salt.. one of my most used spydercos... comes on all my snorkelling adventures :D i keep it attached to my shorts with a surfboard leg rope thru the lanyard hole so it can't get away if i go through some rough surf. although this method has never failed me... i have often thought it would be awesome if the handle scales were fluro yellow or orange for easy location underwater. so... GOOD IDEA ! :D

Pretty sure all zytel handles are a single piece of injection molded polymer.
