3 new arrivals : Worker, Renegade and Dragonfly tattoo

#1

Post by Meshuggah »

I received 3 new Spydie's today.
It's a Worker, Renegade and a Dragonfly Tattoo (this is my girlfriends' first knife).
All of them are (near) mint and have their original boxes ! I was amazed at how good the 30-year old Worker looked :)

Nice acquisitions!

I'd like to see an update the Renegade for a 2012 release. FFG VG10, full liners, twill-woven CF, updated clip.

Nice! I just got my wife the same dragonfly last week. She loves it. I'm really liking that worker! Nice and pointy.

Nice catch. I still think the Worker is one of the best Spydies ever.

Yup, the Worker is quite a knife. I got an almite one off the bay, re-tipped it, and put it to work. Very nice user, would like to see it again sometime.

Meshuggah is indeed the Hebrew word for crazy. It's also the name of a Swedish metal band ;)

Meshuggah,
Very nice group but I believe you might want to check the math on the age of the Worker. Thirty years would be 1981 and my first Spyderco, a Worker, purchased new in January 1989, had no bevels on the handles. Perhaps twenty would be closer than thirty? Hope I've been helpful and I'm sure a revision in the estimated age won't diminish the excitement of your finds!

Well, they were produced from 1981 - ?? so I have no idea. But you are probably right that this isn't the first run so it has probably been made in the late '80s perhaps ?
I have my eye on an unbeveled lefty Worker, that will probably be my next purchase ;)
