Little computer help, please?
Little computer help, please?
Can someone please tell me why the "remember me" thing doesn't work for me on this forum? It works on my phone, and it works on my PC for Bladeforums, which I rarely go on. Kind of annoying typing in name and password so often. :o

The "remember passwords" check box in Firefox is a different function than the forum itself saving your user name and password. I don't have FF save any of my passwords.
If you're using Internet Explorer then click on
-"Tools"
then click on
-"Internet Options"
Click on the "Security" tab
Click on
-"Trusted sites"
Then click on the button called
-"Sites"
Uncheck the box that says "Require server verification (https: ) for all sites in this zone.
In the "Add this website to the zone:" box type in http://www.spyderco.com
Then click on the "Add" button and click on "Close".
Log into the Spyderco forum then the next time you close your browser and come back to this forum you should be logged in.

Also, many programs that are supposed to protect your pc from viruses/spyware/other malware can sometimes screw up cookies or wipe them out for no good reason. If you recently installed a "firewall" or "security" type software, that could be the culprit, though it seems unlikely if the option is working on bladeforums.

I also think it is a cookie issue. Clearing the cookies will probably fix it, but it will also forget you on all other passworded sites... Only once, though.David Lowry wrote:Jazz,
Regardless of what browser you're using, clear your "cache" and delete your "cookies" and or browsing data/history.
That should do it.
You might want to tell us what browser you're using just so we can pretend to know what we're talking about. :)

I've seen 3 messages like that.
1. Remember user ID:
2. Remember me:
3. Remember password:
When it says remember me normally what I've seen happen is when you type something in the user id block it will auto-fill-in all of the entries previously entered, eliminating entries as you type more of your ID. So, if your's says "remember me" try typing your user id. Does it appear so you can click on it? If that happens I think that is what is supposed to happen.
If you are expecting your name to always be there when you open the web page that would only happen if you checked the box labeled "remember user ID". If there is not "remember user ID" option I think that means that web site isn't written with that option.
This is how my PC and browser (IE 8) works.

PS edit: If I am right the administrator for this forum can answer accurately. Or even if I'm wrong.
