Lost an Old Friend Today
Sad news to report, but my work companion of several years has gone M.I.A. My trusty old PE Salt 1 was last seen as I wiped the dirt from its blade after using it to unearth some Bloodroot. I was teaching a new coworker some native plants as we walked through the woods and may have been distracted enough to let it be pulled from my pocket by a shrub. I noticed its absence as soon as we got back to the truck. We were back through the same area later today and I had several other pairs of eyes on the lookout for it. But to no avail.
It is most likely that my old workhorse will spend the remainder of its days in the floodplain forests of the Chagrin River. But who knows, maybe it will be swept downstream in a flood to be found by a trout fisherman, its H1 blade still shiny and ready to work. I will remember it fondly. It was one of the earlier production models- no H1 logo. It bore many a scratch, was the first knife I reground to a splinter picker tip and had a satin finished and rounded clip. That Salt 1 was my go to knife when I knew there was dirty work ahead. Its been a long time since I lost a knife. I hope it doesn't happen again.
It will be impossible to replace that knife, I may have to scratch buying the FRCP Manix and divert funds for a new Salt, maybe this one will be Yellow and SE. A moment of silence for the ones we've lost...

Such a sad story... but maybe... just maybe... it will be discovered by someone unfamiliar with the awesomeness of Spyderco... and they will be amazed at how good it looks and that it never rusted... and then that knife will be their ticket to catching the Spyder bug and you would have been responsible for bettering their life :)

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms..disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one." - Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria
I hear ya and feel for ya. Lost many knives myself, most through my own stupidity. I believe it's the ones you lose due to no fault of your own that are the most missed.
Yeah, perhaps that trout fisherman will benefit in his or her discovery of your Spyderco Salt I PE, might take note of the Spyderco name on the blade, may venture to the computer and surf the Internet in search of Spyderco, come upon this outstanding website, visit our friendly Forum, and read your account.
Sorry for the loss of your :spyder: .

you know I had the same feeling when I lost my Salt I jumping off the dock into the lake. I knew I had to go in after it, so I got some goggles and went down and by a stroke of luck I found it! I think the H1 series are great knives and are one of the few in my collection that don't have a comparable knife as far as durability/rustproof goes.

Delica and Endura are great knives! They're the low priced crack samples that'll get you hooked on spyderco! Feed the need!

I recently lost one of my edcs. I had to go to court as a witness and I took my sprint run hawkbill ladybug off my keychain. I thought I put it back on but I can't find it anywhere now. I guess I lost it or I might have put it back and when I put my keys down at work someone liked it more than me. Miss my little friend. I hope someone enjois it or I find it soon.

Meet my new friend. Can't wait to put some scratches on it. A very huge thank-you to Ms Hunter and Mr Glesser for arranging our introduction. You are truly class acts. If you are ever in Cleveland, I owe you dinner.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)
