100% agreement, DBSS.
I carry a folder at work but carry one ot two extra fixed blades as often as I can. A small fixed blade like you decribed would absolutely make my day. As many 211 Activators as Benchmade sells, I'm surprised that Spyderco doesn't make a rough equivalent with a more neutral handle for better ergos in a variety of grips.

They could do a "Swick" with it and leave the sheaths up to the customer as it's hard to make everyone happy with a knife like this anyway. I like the idea of a 6" overall knife, but would prefer a choil-free 2-3/8" blade that starts right where the handle ends to keep it legal over the maximum possible jurisdictions while letting the handle stay at 3-5/8" to get a good grip on it. Leaf-type blade like the Swick 2, comfortable ergos for a variety of grips, and I think they would have a real winner here for a pocket and backup fixed blade for both utility and defensive use.DeathBySnooSnoo wrote:I love little FB like that. Though I do prefer a leather pocket sheath for that type of knife and not sure that Spyderco would do one of those.
I tried that BM...didn't like it.
As long as they kept the steel reasonable, they could probably sell them by the bucketful. Put some super-grippy 1/8"-thick G10 scales on it and I would probably buy a bucketful all by myself.

Leaving the sheaths is probably a good idea...it's just sort of...frustrating to have to buy a knife then find a sheath or get one made for it. Especially since some sheaths would cost as much as the knife. But it is the best option for them and the customer I am sure.psychophipps wrote:They could do a "Swick" with it and leave the sheaths up to the customer as it's hard to make everyone happy with a knife like this anyway. And I would say no choil too. Just a simple edc fixed blade.
I have carried my Steeet Beat in my pocket with no problems so a 6 inch fb should be easy enough to carry, and as long as it isn't all blacked out and "tactical" looking it should be easy enough to use in a good variety of locations. See I would want it to be a bit thicker than you are thinking...what you are describing, IMO, sounds more like a "neck knife" really thin and sleek. I was thinking a little chunkier. Maybe 3.5mm thick with a contoured handle. Steel is a tough call...I wouldn't want VG-10, S30V...meh. If it could be brought in at about the $110 mark I would like to see M4 or 3V.
On the hunt for...
