I have 5 Paras if that counts, but they're all a bit different. No... I tell a lie... my digicam Para 1 is my fav and I do have a backup for that one. The others are a Para 2, an all black Para 1 for my garage beater, and an early model Para 1 with the large jimping that was my first. She's semi-retired now but we have a lot of history so she's still the "matriarch" of the Para clan.

Lol, actually... when I say "loss", I really mean theft. I've "lost" quite a few knives over the years by putting them down somewhere for two seconds and finding them to have walked off somehow. So... maybe someone IS following me around waiting for me to "drop" one! :p :p

The Centofante 3 is probably my favorite Spyderco (my favorite knife, actually), and I almost bought a second one in case I lose/damage it.

As I don't like having unused stuff lying around, I resisted the urged so far. But if the Centofante was discontinued, then I'd likely get another one : for me, no other knife could really take its place (some would come close... but not quite).

When I have something I like I generally do get a backup. I have at least 5 Milli's and that or more in Para. I have duplicates of my 3 favorite firearms also. heck, even have a woman on the side.

I definitly buy duplicates of the same model that I like. Cause I always give them to buds who show appreciation for them. I recently gave duplicates of manix 2, navajo, dragonfly, sage 1 and over the weekend my usn catherman to a bud while fishing. I find I always get a christmas morning like reaction..

Now i only have two ATR's, para 2, and millies. (not looking for any new buds :)

Only knife that I have twice is a ladybug. Don't think I'll be buying multiples of any other knife I already have.

Then again, when I bought my first spydie last year, I never thought I would have 11 by now, so I probably shouldn't say never ;)

When I find a model I really like, (e.g., 20CP Para 2, Super Blue Caly 3.5, M390 Millie & Para 2), I usually buy (or preorder) one or two extras as pre-need replacements.

If I later find something in the same category I like more, I figure I can always sell off some of my unused extras down the road and hopefully at the least recover the amount I invested in them.

Doesn't Deacon have over 250 Kiwi's?

The most I have of any one model is around 6 or 7 Manix 2's, but they are different steels, different colors/Glow-In-the-Dark scales, etc so they seem different to me.

Hey Spyderkoholic I can certainly identify with your love of the Lum Tanto folder C-46 and the Lum fixed blade as well. As far as design beauty I don't know of too many other Spyders that captivate me like that model does. The Bob Lum fixed blade was truly a work of art as well. They really need to bring that one back in a super steel version.

And HAWKBILLS are truly the epitome of what Spyderco does to raise the bar with other knife companies. They go where hardly no other knife company will go. We need more Hawkbills in G-10 handles.

And the Military C-36 model which is what this thread is mainly about is truly a classic design that won't quit. People will love the Military model 20 years from now. That's just how timeless that model is.
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!

Unfortunately, a lot of the spyderco designs don't interest me that much, also I don't seem attracted to their higher end stuff either. Having said that, the FRN and stainless models are among my favorites, and at the price point I usually decide to purchase multiples of the ones I like. I have 3 salt 1's, 5 variations of the dragonfly,2 cara cara 2's and all 3 handle variations of the byrd meadowlark 2's. I guess I feel more comfortable buying a duplicate knife that I feel is perfect for me, rather than taking a chance buying something different/more expensive that I may end up not liking.
