I was able to get my hands on a couple of the 2009 forum Natives when they first came out, and while mine got used for a very short time, my girlfriend has been carrying hers ever since I gave it to her. Today I figured I'd take a couple shots of the knife, as it looks now.
Well, there hasn't been an abundant amount of metal taken off the blade and the tip is still there. I also assume you're sharpening it for her. If anything, I'd call that a great user knife despite your girlfriend's tendency to use the wrong tool for the job. Plus, you haven't seen mine:
I missed out on the forum knife if you haven't guessed by now. Chances are that you did. I call it my ugliest idea. Slices like no other knife I've ever held though. Especially with that improperly sharpened mirror polish that I gave it.

The name of the tool escapes me right now but it was basically a power drill equipped with a diamond coated dremel bit, rested the blade against a block of wood, and used lower RPMs to try to prevent blade warp. It took a long time though because that S30V is so ridiculously hard.
