#1

Post by ken »

That is what showed-up in my mailbox coursety of AllenETreat.

What a toy! I feel like I'm back in high school!

Everyone has fun playing with there spyderco's, even me! But if you want to have a "BLAST" GET A BALISONG!

If you never had one you owe it to yourself to get one. You will not be sorry!

Spyderco - you do need to make one of these....

What can I say Allen but you just made me 35 years younger. Thanks so much!!!!!!!

Ken -

If We waited while PeterJhones, Sal &

the rest of the company "heads" decide

to whether, or to whether not produce

the fly because of "legal""issues"

we'd might be waiting as long as it's

takin' DiALEX's package of Spydies to

reach him. ( I sent it "economy" on the

3rd of November 2002! The LAST time I

do THAT!!) For all anyone knows, it

could be in orbit around the planet

Saturn! Go figure!

-AET - And remember , if you don't

make & sell it, some other Charlie

WILL!!

It's not around Saturn, Allen. My calculations show said package to be making a rather nice elliptical orbit around Earth, perigee of around 35 miles. Just a brief jog, really.

Never underestimate the impossible.

Actually, the package was last spotted somewhere on Mars, where some tiny green people were opening it and trying to put their sticky fingers through those strange holes in the blades I still hope, though they'll send it back, finally

Now about the balisong... Congratulations to you and to the sender, our Knives Santa Allen
You can't be into knives if you don't handle a balisong, at least once. You should see my wife handling a butterfly! She defintely gets the looks

BTW, Spyderco WILL make a butterfly knife! It's called the Spyderfly, available in two sizes and it should be quite a piece, according to the Spyderco tradition No, I didn't see it, they didn't have the guts to show it to me

Gotta "website within a thread" for

ANYONE interested in the history of

the balisong/batanga ( Samo, you read

me!?!) note that they also SELL balis

but "caveat emptor" ( buyer BEWARE!) as

this company is on U.S. Customs "hit

list" for "importing contraband" along

with Michael Beltrame's SKM of Maniago,

Italy. The website : www.balisong.com

( they also have a "forum"; but I likee

the history lesson BETTER! )

Why does everyone want spuderco to make a balisong? It won't have a hole, and there are so many people making them now. I recently purchased one, and they are ridiculous fun, but I'd rather see do what it does best.

Dijos-

Than why do they bother to make that spot knife and fixed blade knives...I guess because there is a market. And we all like spyderco knives/so why not a balisong????

As long as knife's quality stands with spyderco's standarts -- let it be even katana!

I venture, Ken it's that want to not

appear as the company that sells to

"bad guys". Sad part is, other

companies just make'em, as it's really

NOT against the "law" to manufacture

balisongs, nor sell'em. As for it being

a "rogues" "weapon" the SAME can be

said about ANY knife ( or firearm ).

If not a balisong ( or switchblade )

how about the Harpy? Or the Perrin

Bowie even!?! Or dispense with all the

aesthetics, and howz about a serrated

butcher knife!? Again, it's ALL "image"

and no real dealing in reality. But

then, "Hollywood" seems to appeal to

the commoner, as does things like

video games & "virtual reality" ( the

forte of those who(m) cannot seem to

face REALITY most of their lives.) How

VERY SAD a "state" of affairs We live

in. We even have a President that says

"nuculer" when it's "nuclear" or a

Deputy Director of the FBI that defers

to the term "dissed" when referring to

an agent that "blew the whistle" on the

Blessed FBI!*tsk,tsk,tsk*

Spyderfly's are still moving along. For a small company, we've got a lot of irons in the fire. Your patience and kind understanding is appreciated.
