my daughter asked me to take her boat fishing this year, so i was thinking about buying an aqua salt. i just realized it's been discontinued. is spyderco going to release an aqua salt 2 or should i jump on whatever supply is left?
As a side-note, the Caspian is still in production and would be a nice boat knife as well.
Really for give/take $60 either would be a great knife. They were impressive and unique for the market when offered at about $100 prior to the drop and then disco.
I've been looking for a Yellow PE Aqua Salt for about two weeks now. Just missed some that sold on fleaBay.
Only ones I've found are in Canada, and they have a durn postal strike holding everything up.
Anyone have intel on other sources? Feel free to email me.
The 2 being discussed here, Aqua and Caspian Salts, are now the only salts I own. I'd say either is good to have around water. For more frequent use I prefer the Caspian. The finger hole and negative blade angle make it very comfy for me. It's hard to go wrong with either :)

From people who own or have used an Aqua Salt, for use in a marine environment (boating, fishing, etc.), which is preferable--plain edge or serrated edge?

With the blade being H1, I'd recommend the serrated. H1 truly shines in this format...

I always try and go with SE on H1 - much better edge retention with the SE due to work hardening properties of H1 and the grinding involved in making a SE.
