HA, thats like going to a pup and screaming, "Am I crazy for wanting a drink?" Everyone just shakes their head, holds up their mugs and says in a slurred voice, "Cheers".

Ah, come on. Isn't crazy just another label? ;) I started out with a purple FFG Delica about a month ago. Now one in pink is on the way. Couldn't resist, really. And there's a Dragonfly Salt with a serrated edge on my desk and a foliage green Ladybug. And did I mention I can't carry any of them on me (only in a closed bag/purse) because there's a law against locking blade+one-hand opening in place here? How's that for crazy ;) Oh well, just means I HAD to order a UKPK in orange G10 :D As long as it doesn't interfere with any other financial obligations I say do as you please and enjoy yourself :spyder: :spyder: :spyder:

A lot of people have hobbies or interests that cost enough money that people with no interest in that hobby think is "crazy". I've even spent "lots" on money on "expensive" tools for my profession when a lesser expensive tool was available. I just wanted the best or one with extra features. Some people think it's "crazy" to spend money on tools to do work for a company. They think the company should pay for all tools. Personally I only think a company is obligated to pay for tools that are good only for the tasks they require of me. If it's a tool that can be used for other things I'll buy it. I"m drifting again, sorry. Back on track. It's your money, do what you want even if buying several knives of the same model with different color handles is what you want to do. I use that as an example, no one could be THAT "crazy". :D

SuzieQ: You mentioned a Dragonfly on your desk. Is that legal as long as you don't carry it on you? Also, if you don't mind, where are you? USA or another country? If you can carry the Dragonfly in your purse could a man (or you) carry it in a pocket? If you want to talk "crazy" there are plenty of knife laws to talk about. :D

The combination of one hand opening, locking ban makes me conclude that SuzieQ is in Germany, Jack.

Yeah.. but all my knives will be users and I think from a practicality standpoint them white will look like crap after a few uses. Then again they do look sexy! :p

If I had the funds and didn't have other Spydie models screaming for me to buy them I would order every color of Delica and as many versions of the Manix 2 as I could get. Then I would continue that trend with other models :) I think its just a Spyderco thing. Either you get it or you don't! Everyone on here seems to get it.

I would share the love a bit and try some different models, you never know you may find one you like even more than your beloved Delica!

I understand what you're saying about quality tools. I'm the same. I really don't see why I should bother with shoddy tools in any of my hobbies or professional undertakings. I do know from experience that it only leads to frustration and more money spent. There's a saying here that hits the nail on the head: "The poor and the miser always buy twice."

Oh yeah, let's talk about crazy knife laws ;) Chuck would be right in his assumption that I'm in Germany. Knife law is a bit hazy in certain points but it's pretty clear that locking+one-handed is a a no-go *in public*. It doesn't mean those knives are forbidden though. You can buy them, sell them and do whatever, within your own four walls. And it IS allowed to transport those knives around in a closed container. The common interpretation of this clause is that you can have them in a zipped pouch, backpack, purse with you. That being said it probably doesn't really matter all that much as long as you don't get into trouble with the law.

In the end it's up to you if you heed the infamous §42a or not. After some risk assesment I'm pretty sure I wouldn't mind carrying a Ladybug in my pocket. Those are so non-threatening and hardly any larger than a small SAK I don't think any policeman would look at them twice. And I'm a girl so not exactly their target group for a personal search. But that's my personal choice. I would be prepared to give up the knife and pay the fine for misdemeanor if it comes to that.

Now if anybody would be willing to explain to me why I can officially carry a large SAK with a 4 inch blade but not a small Ladybug I would be all ears. Thing is, nobody can't
