A Spydie Love Bite

#1

Post by Blade Santa Cruz »

I'm pretty careful about all my knives and can't remember the last nip I received. This attitude, of course, set me up for a little Spydie love bite.

I was working my new VG-10 Civilian that Glasshart found for me, just to break it in a little and get the knife feeling natural. As I closed it, my small finger drifted into the way of the spydie edge and bing! I saw it happening at the last instant and forced my hand not to pull away as the point of a serration bit. As a result, no tear, no long cut; ****, it was not much worse than taking one of those finger-tip blood samples. I compressed it for less than a minute and no stitches needed with minimal damage only. Now a day later there's the smallest of marks on the finger and no other negative effects.

I cleaned the blade immediately after the incident, but now the new Civvie and I are much closer. You might even say we've bonded.

Aye, those Civilians can have a mind of their own, a bit like a half tamed horse.

I got a series of small SPyder bites the day I got my Civilian, was in a rush (but not too much of a rush to look at my newly arrived Civvi), went to close it too fast and the blade closed gently across the back of my knuckles. I was amazed that there wasn't any blood .... until I flexed my hand and a series of very shallow cuts opened up.

Glad your ok, but remember, don't turn you back on that half tamed beastie

Walk softly, carry a big stick.

****, the first time I handled my Navigator I closed it on my thumb and it didn't even slow down. Sliced right through the fleshy part on the side of my thumb leaving me bleeding like a stuck pig.

So even the little ones will get ya

I got these lines in my face from trying to straighten out the wrinkles in my life

I'm just waiting for the meerkat to bite me...

I haven't touched a stone to it, despite heavy use at work... just stropped the edge over the last month. Well, I'd call it "hmm, I'm bleeding?" sharp.

everytime I close it by unlocking and wrist flick, the edge contacts my finger tips. just waiting to get cut.

My Word, My Honour, is my Life.

With the Police, do not ever close it with the end of the handle pressing into any fleshy part of your body. The heel of your hand for instance. That blade just barely fits in the handle.

My Meerkat drew the first blood... followed shortly by the Copilot. Nothing serious, no more than 5-6 gallons of blood each
