Simona: My girl friend has developed a "don't ask/don't tell" attitude. She doesn't ask about them and I don't tell her. Jerry

Simona,

Mrs Java usually says, "Wow. Nice knife. Did I get one too?" She has all the pink models; packs a Cricket, a Ladybug, one of them Microtek key thingies; and a orange Photon II as her EDCs; has a Mouse in the mail; and wants a pink Civvie some day. I had to draw the line with that. I'm afraid that would defeat the "Fear Factor". <img src="http://www.engr.uconn.edu/~mmartins/smilies/biggrin.gif">

If I had fewer knives/guns/motorcycles perhaps I'd still have a wife/girlfriend. Oh well <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Java,
Why not? Dina Meyer carried a pink hand grenade on her keychain in Johnny Mnemonic. ;-)

I'd just tell her one thing:

"Love me, love my knives."

Barefoot,

Love your sense of humor... pictures too. Keep it up. This forum gets too technical sometimes! You have a good spirit of fun.

Whenever I get a new gun or knife, or sits fondling one, she shakes her head, mumbles something about what a dork I am. Then she kisses me and goes out to buy yet another pair of shoes. Go figure <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hmmm... well, I don't have a wife or a girlfriend, but my husband just rolls his eyes and smiles anytime he sees me admiring my toys and getting new ones. Hey, to each his/her own! <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

He gets his own tools as well, sometimes from me. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

My wife HATES my knife collecting hobby. But recently she did a "turnaround" and now suddenly approves of my knives.

I SMELL I'M BEING SET UP FOR A TRAP!!!!!!<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

What this married man needs is a mistress that likes knives as much as I do!!!!<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

A-ha! Mrs Samo luurrrves <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> knives.. Infact, she has a mini police necklace, a blue ladybug and a SS Calypso as Samo's tokens of his undying lurve to Mrs Samo.. And she is very supportive of Samo's affliction for sharp thingies.. *hee-hee!* <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Ahh, Simona, the movie "Office Space" (your image #1) one of my favorites. What the folks here may not know is the guy is beating up an office printer/fax machine. I worked in silicon valley for 11 years, so the movie holds a special place in my heart.

Anyway, to your questions: She tolerates the obsession with mild amusement.

Hi Simona. My wife has started to approve of my knife collecting hobby. She actually bought me a few of them. She owns 3 Spydercos herself; a Ladybug, a Dagonfly, and a Toad. She prefers the smaller ones. She still grumbles sometimes when I pull them out to look at, though.

Rorschach: Nice site.

Well I am getting married soon and have to save so she would like me to hold off for awhile. She doesn't understand but she tries and that is good enough for me.

(Thanks for the kind words on my <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> site, Simona and Spydieman. I try and update it once a month as the new blades roll in (budget permitting).)

One significant positive response from my wife: the acquisition of my SharpMaker has led her to ask me to sharpen everything in the house, which is a chore I attack with zeal. She recently got a "mandoline slicer" thing and the blade was duller than nerf ball. In no time I had that thing slicing transparent vegetables. Sweet.
