That's the first one I've seen with the lock bar insert.

Thanks for the pictures.

bm 755 mpr, which i sold as the frame-lock was easy to slide (no authoritative locking), the g10 were highly abrasive, the clip was difficult and tight. this is also my 2nd bm that has come blunt as a door-knob. however, the build is rock-solid.

Thanks. It looks like that thing would fill up your entire pocket and stick out of it quite a bit.

couple nights ago doing some prep work on these new beautiful para-military2s - black on black
one manuf. 02-11 other 04-11 I believe. did some custom work on the liners for rust prevention and modified the pivot. excellent design. they perform wondrously with the flat grind. normally I do not like designs that have liners but for this I made a exception and it was well worth the prep work. thinking about getting a few more will have to see what rarer models are available. would like to get a m390 or s90v version I hear they are out there someplace from posters on bladeforums.

I think it's for changing the grip from the saber grip to the reverse grip by sliding the knife between the thumb and the forefinger.
From the spyderco press release about this knife:
Micarta handle which has elliptical cutouts for indexing and enhanced.
For reducing the weight, the blade has a tapered tang.
