Yikes...that's pretty scary. All sorts of compressed things could be used in the handle.

Certain powers are trying to pass legislation to outlaw that particular knife so you might want to get it quick.

I literally think I would be laughed out of the water if I went diving with that and my friends saw it.

That thing blows one thing up too: The media.

I recall the immediate response to the thought of evil people possessing such a tool and the mayhem they could commit. Since of of the most heinous acts are commited with makeshift weapons the thought of a $400+ compressed air dagger is more Sci-Fi than reality.

The "defense against sharks" sales-pitch they use is at the least ignorant.

Very interesting idea. Great for hunting T1000's and other Skynet creations but as a practical (anything) a tad silly.

If someone made a bullet that did anything remotely similar (for civilian sale), there'd definitely be a media #$@% storm. WOW, just wow.

Besides my gas-op firearms, at last I can have a gas-op KNIFE NOW!! :p

Admittedly clever and unique. But I jus' wanna put some hurtin' to more of them melons m'self... no good, smug dirty rotten... Jus' where do they think they get off, anyways -- biggest, baddest tyrannical fruit in the garden over all else.

What ever happened to a level playing field, for cripe's sake!
End garden oppression -- be the first kid on the block to own your very own melon wrecking Pneuma- Knife.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*edit* Apart from the irresistible tongue in cheek; on a serious note this thing could easily see itself spearheading a whole new class of typified lethal weaponry IMO (and quite likely doomed to eventual banishment from the free market).

As for the sheer novelty factor though?
If it were half the asking price- yeah, I'd probably buy one, knowing myself.
Even if never used practically, it'd at least keep my pet rocks in my sock drawer company. :p

I could see a light harpoon version of this being useful for the zombie apocalypse.

would be more likely to DIY one though, it ain't rocket surgery to put a point on the end of an airgun.

I'd bet good money that makes an appearance on the Discovery Channel. I hear Shark Week is coming up soon.

I love this article about it:

http://www.thescubasite.com/Scuba-Divin ... ving-knife

Paraphrased:

The manufacturers of the "WASP Injection System" claim, "it is perfect for diving and military use, and it will take down some of the world's largest predators such as bears and sharks"...

and

For anybody experienced at diving or with sharks, this idea may seem laughable. While the creators of the WASP Injection System claim to know about diving, if you research shark attacks, you will see that in almost all cases:

* The shark was never seen coming
* The victim was attacked with such force, they describe it as "being hit by a bus/train"
* Attacks are normally one bite affairs, not prolonged assaults
