Info on rare Spyderco knives

#1

Post by WhitefeatherTexas »

I am currently on vacation in a small mountain town in the Rockies and I've discovered a little fishing shop with a few old Spydercos. Please excuse the poor picture quality. If anyone can help me identify all of these knives
that would be awesome. So far I've identified a Spyderco C47 ps Ti Lum Tanto, an old Serrated Centafante, a Co-pilot, some old looking Militaries and a carbon fiber Dragonfly. Also I am really Interested to know how much the Lum Tanto could be worth. It's numbered 050. Thanks guys.

Ti Lum could be worth pretty penny, but would be worth a lot more if it were PE. The Guntings could be worth something, but again, more if it were PE.

The ones on the shelf with the Lum Tanto are a D'Allara Rescue, Gunting Trainer, Jot Singh Khalsa, and a Zowada. The one between the two Millies and the Centofante is a SnapIt.

Prices aren't anything extraordinary but I would be willing to buy them if I knew I could flip them.

Any thoughts on values? They all appear to be mint.

So the Lum is numbered #050 how much do you think it's worth?

If you search eBay, there is a box you can check on the left that says completed listings.

The last PE went for $375, last CE went for $180.

Also don't bank on the numbered versions being worth more than non.
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

If you are in Estes Park would you grab me another 5 man water balloon launcher? We used to have a ball with those things on the lake :)

Doesn't it stain the blades when you leave price tags on them for many years?

Could, I suppose, depending on the steel and the chemical composition of the adhesive. More likely to be an issue if placed on G-10 or micarta handles, especially if they're exposed to sunlight for years and the rest of the handle fades a bit.

No, it is actually the other way round. The rest of the blade stains or patina's slightly due to the oxygen exposure, while the bit protected under the sticker does not.

I find that numbered models are usually easier to sell on USN than non and usually go for more on eBay. Everywhere else it's a crap shoot, but most won't pay more and some would pay less.

I think unless you want any of them or they are really good prices, you are not going to make a tone flipping any of them.

There were some 440v SE Millies on CPFMarketplace a couple months ago that just sat and I think finally went for close to $100, if not under.

Edit: Just found the listing. It's at $120 and still hasn't sold.
